  1. Hahaha B you crack me up! Anytime you want some work done you let me know. Get me the gas money to get there and Ill work for free. I just love turning wrenches that much! Im actually really looking forward to some good weather! I used to live down there when I was 18 7 years ago and really enjoyed all the sun. I never thought about driving to the sierras that sounds like a blast! There has got to be a ton of great wheelin down there. It would be a pleasure and an honor B, cant wait to meet you!
  2. Thanks James! As of now UTI is still currently one of the only schools in the nation to be ASE certified and they still have a great name with a lot of businesses. So I am really thankful to be accepted and on my way to success!
  3. So I just finished filling out all my forms and have been accepted to UTI in Sacramento, CA. =) I will be moving down there at the end of March and starting school on May 10th. Just wanted to say you all have been a part of me wanting to go to auto mechanics school and have been a big support in the short time I have been on NPORA. Part of the reason I am writing this is because I was hoping to get together with as many of the Washington guys as possible for a trail run, or at least a meet and greet/eat somewhere to have a beer or something of the likes before I head off for the next couple years (or even longer!). I think it would just be a great honor to meet all of you that have helped me out so much in the last months here. It would mean a lot to me to get to do this in my home state before I leave! The other reason I am writing this is because I know a good lot of you live in Cali too and I just wanted to give an official hello and let you know another member will be in your area to lend a hand at any time possible. Thanks so much for reading and the support wish me luck!
  4. dang thats nice to know, thanks B! I took my crappy winch back and will save for a better one haha! I musta been to think I could use that thing!
  5. Well being a sign guy most of my life I can say that most of the plastic they use for that stuff is pretty dang durable. Ive jumped on faces only to be thrown back three feet and grab a hammer to finish the job- and even that wasnt enough sometimes. Id end up having to break out the saw. It mostly depended on the age of the plastic as the sun starts to wear on it (as well as other elements). But most of the signs that started cracking were nearly 15-20 years old. With this type of fender you could also do some really cool color combos including clear/transparent colors. May be kinda sweet actually. EDIT: I do remember one other thing and that was to stay away from molding harder edges, as they tend to be easier to crack, and break, apon pressure/resistance to flex. Id be interested in this for sure.
  6. Dang you beat me by 1k and 1 year! lol (for earliest with low miles)
  7. I def second this. The xtra little stuff and a winch personally would make me feel like its christmas compared to spending all that money on one item. And youll get out of some tuff situations and get stuck a little less with sliders etc. Id put a cheap rear locker on if anything too. I personally dont see getting a expensive winch either, there are plenty of things to make a cheap winch just as viable, such as pullies and add on lines which cost almost nothing. I got a 3k winch from Harbor Freight tools and plan to pick up a pully to make it a 6k winch, all of which cost me well under $100. Not to mention, its remote controlled! =) Just saying for the price of air lockers, you could get a lot and every time you look at your vehicle youll see it and smile even bigger then before - on and off the trail.
  8. For sure, I already talked to him about the bearings. But tie rods and such im not too concerned with, the brands they have at the site are pretty good.
  9. i think mine does that too. It seems like around the 2k rpm range usually when Im driving about 30-40mph in 5th gear. It may be something else though too Im doing a bunch of suspension work right now so well see...
  10. Perfect Import Parts They seem to have some quality parts for some really good prices. Plus I think if you order over $100 the shipping is free. Im gonna be ordering a bunch of steering/suspension/hub components from them so well see how it goes!
  11. Oh, as a side note, because of tire size and/or suspension upgrades, you may experience different results on the angles of the cl and other components too. So one guy may see different results from another depending on that stuff. Just a thought =)
  12. Just have to say I like the tunes in the first vid, good song! As far as I can tell from your third video, everything seems fine. And if it has no slop between the wheels (to check this I put it on jack stands and have one person hold one wheel and I push/pull on the other to give an idea to see if there is slop in there either in bearings, or linkage) I wouldnt worry too much. But as the other guys say, if your up to and upgrade Id go for that too. Im in the process of rebuilding the entire front end right now so Im having the same fun you are!
  13. Well it may be easier for you to find, but I went all over looking for the right tranny fluid and only Action Auto parts had the right stuff, which was Redline MT-90.
  14. Well I got a new one today! I can shift into all gears fine and the clutch grabs well. But when I take off, it sounds like it grinds a little bit, mostly in second gear, and seemingly more so on right turns. Sometimes in third as well, but just barely and at lower speeds (putting more stress on tranny?). After this first bit of noise and a little gas it goes away until putting more torque on things again. Throwout bearing? Syncros? Mounts? Im not really sure what to think on this one. I am going to check wheel bearings tomorrow but just wanted some thoughts on this. (I dont believe its the wheel bearings however) Im looking around for GL-4 fluid but many of you know its a pain. I will probably just order redline MT-90? soon. Thanks guys!
  15. Haha yeah good thing I didnt spend the extra money on those parts, I needed it for all the other misc stuff I needed to do the job. Thanks for your help and support kingman, hopefully Ill see you on the trails soon!
  16. Heck yeah! Everyone in my family has commented on how nice my truck looks. Pathfinders are just an awesome vehicle. I certainly learned a ton, and will not be timid one bit to do the next timing belt change when the time comes. Cheers to you man!
  17. Well good news my friends! I have replaced the timing belt and water pump, seals, thermostat, rad hoses, and other belts... and it runs INCREDIBLE! No valve noise at all, it purrs like a tiger! haha! I brought it over to my grandmothers and she let me use her garage and my uncle came over to give me a hand. What a project, but it was a lot of fun! Thanks so much to everyone here at NPORA and all the support I have been given. The timing belt once I got to it, felt like a rubber band! and the water pump piece that connects to the fan, you could move it in and out! So nothing had been changed back there for 95k miles! But all is good now so I am very happy! Thanks again you guys are awesome, and I owe my dedication to this site in return!
  18. Oh I love my baby, my gf gets jealous quite often!
  19. So basically I wont be able to do that because it was auctioned off at a police repo. I doubt they did anything to it lol. I wont know unless I dig in there and if thats the case I might as well replace a few things. I guess thats the way I see it. If fixing the timing belt and water pump and seals doesnt solve my problem, Im one step closer right? lol
  20. On a side note, it does have 95k on it. So its time to do the timing belt anyways. I highly doubt the previous owners have done it.
  21. That is a very good point. Im not an engine mechanic, but it sounded like the vavles smackin to me. Doesnt mean they are bad, but to me it seemed like it was very close to becoming that way. Do you have any idea as to what that might have been? Any input at all is greatly appreciated.
  22. Thanks JJ that is a GREAT tip. It will give me a little heads up before I dig into it, it may be another problem other then what I think so this will help me diagnose it further. I think that should be pinned up in the Mechanics tips or how to's. Really great tip. Thanks again!
  23. Thanks james I didnt know I could rent tools like that! The seals do sound like quite the pain. I guess Ill just check them and if they are ok then Ill leave them, if they look even slightly bad Ill replace them. Second thought, I dont wanna go back in there for those, maybe Ill just do them anyways. Guess Ill know when the time comes.
