I Know This Has Been Covered But Can't Find It!
885SPD replied to 885SPD's topic in 86.5-89 WD21 Pathfinders
It is a VG33ER so I think I will grab it! YEAH be jealous people! Wiring nightmare I think but the Megasquirt will help. I will do a thread on the swap when I get to it! -
First clean out the hole the bushing is going in with 1000 grit sand paper then freeze the bushing ( I leave it over night ). The bushing will then go in alot easier, also use lube at the same time! The freezing of the bushing shrinks the metal sleeve in size!

I Know This Has Been Covered But Can't Find It!

I will be using the Mega-Squirt computer so I can custom tune it! It is a MT! I will try the search! I guess it is worth it so I will try it! Thankyou for your help! -
I have used the search option and could not find an answer! I can get an 01 engine with wiring and computer for $600 but is it the same bellhousing bolt pattern? Any help would be great!
-
Whoops! I thought I heard someone say it was 8:1! I was thinking about the 3.3! is the 3.5 the same bellhousing pattern?
-
WOW! Not enough room for turbo's but you can fit a chevy v8! Are they that small!!! How about rebuilding the motor for torque and gearing to match then learn to drive a stick and use the engine's potential instead of wasting it on a lot of rotating mass in an auto? If you are looking for gas economy go buy a Prius, if you want power go buy a Vette! If you want cheap fun to play off road now and then the Pathfinder works great! I will be putting in a later model VG30 when mine goes and using a MegaSquirt to control it, good cams and exhaust, K&N and Snorkel with an electric fan! I will also increase the compression to 9 to 1! Should work well enough for me!

If it wasn't for the Americans I would be speaking German! So it is for Americans, if it wasn't for the French you guys would be speaking English! But yes it was a bad placement! I will be installing an O'Berg filter soon, buy once use for-ever!

If I wanted a Chevy I would have bought one, and automatics HELL NO (those are for lazy people)! I like the V6, so I just want to have one ready! Sounds good on the TBI I just didn't know how good it actually is! I like the idea of the 3.3 though! Thanks for the input! Simon

My 88 Pathfinder has 289,000 miles on it (original everything except alternator) and I am sure it is about to need an engine (rattling during start up). I want to start looking for an engine! So what are the difference's? I am thinking of a later model with SEFI! Now here's my real question, I can see alot of info on a alot of different builds, what I want to know is what is the best build for torque? Any suggestions would be great. Simon

Dam engineers!!!! Ruined my fun! Oh well there goes $40!

OK! The stock air cleaner is very restrictive! What I am going to do is fabricate a plenum that adapts the throttle body to run a 3" hose. Then I am going to mount an XJ air box with K&N in it, using the stock, but opened up, air location in the fender! SC88 that's a ram air, cold air means that you pull air from a location other than the engine bay, so the stock location is a cold air system. Just don't do what a friend of mine did and run it into the inside of his XJ, He could not figure out why He felt light headed all the time (just a hint he lives in UTAH and uses his A/C alot!!!!).
-
Similar to stock but a larger hole! I want to run a snorkel so trying to keep it kinda stock!
-
Here's what I am going to do! I am going to build an adapter to run an XJ air box in my Pathy. It will probably open up many options for different air filters as well. The reason is I am broke and have an XJ airbox with a K&N so I am going to use it. If it turns out well who knows. Tell me what you think, I think it might be a little more efficient. Simon

SAS got a axle but need help.
885SPD replied to GEOz2k7's topic in Solid Axle Swaps, Hardcore Custom Fab
Dana 44 is fine until you shear the spindle from seized bearings, and the wheel falls off (ITS CALLED MAINTENANCE PEOPLE!!!)! Seen that too! But the point is that the 30 would suffice if it's all you can get, however, you have to run the smaller bolt pattern which sucks!! There are about 4 waggy front axles in the TN craigslist and a few complete waggys for under a grand!! So the waggy axle is not hard to find! But watch out, only get the 4-door axle as it is the same width, all of the others are wider!!! By the way was it the stub breaking or was it the fact that the nut had not been pinned? I have a shop and have seen that way too often! -

Number 1: A Dana 30 front out of a Cherokee would be a reverse rotation front axle. If the shaft breaks the wheel does not fall off! Only if you break the outer stub shaft will it do that, also good luck on that, I run 37" tires on a locked and chromoed D30. Having said all of that, yes I would still go for the D44 as it can be built stronger and has the capability of using Locking hubs. The 30 can get locking hubs but they are extremely expensive. Also saying that the D30 is only good for stock tires shows your ignorance in the Dana 30! Simon -
Rough Country has just come out with a long arm that's cheap and well built. Never thought I would say this but it might be worth using a long arm after all at that price! Simon

VH45 Swap & SAS Update (Merged Threads)
885SPD replied to tmorgan4's topic in Solid Axle Swaps, Hardcore Custom Fab
Hey finally some one that knows knows how to triangulate a fabricated structure! I hate seeing over built useless junk and like seeing well built engineered structures!!! Thankyou! -
Rough Country just came out with a super cheap long arm lift for the TJ! Same front as the XJ, they may have arms to be sold separately soon! I will check and report back! have a look at their site under TJ lift kits!!! The whole kit front and rear is only $1350, I wonder if the rear would be any help, I'll check it out. Simon

How wide is the Pathy I haven't measured it yet? The rear they have is IFS plus 2" which is 63" wide! The front will match! A waggy front is 63"! -
Very nice work! More INPUT! Simon

Front axle options for SAS

If you wait long enough, trail-gear is coming out with front drivers side and passenger side axle housings! Their rear is pretty cheap and works well, can't wait for the front! Also ruffstuffspecialties has a new housing for 9", toyota and super 14, but no ends are available yet, there are many available from other sources though. Simon -
I would read some of the other threads also, alot of information out there! Simon
