Some time after this... I would guess.
Would it matter if one was started now?
-
That sucks man
You can't repair it/put another engine in?
-
I used Quaker State, Valvoline, Motomaster, Amsoil, Mobil1, Castrol, and many others and NONE of them would stay in my old truck (RMS leak) and one of them caused it. I'm going to blame the oil, for sure.
It's amazing the conclusions people will jump to when something goes wrong with their vehicle. Blaming oil companies for engines falling apart or being built incorrectly is a stretch.
True, but sometimes things look to bad to be a coincidence
Old work mate rebuilt his Subaru engine, put Magnatec oil in... Bottom end crapped out. Talked to a local race engine re builder who asked if he was running Magnatec. James said "How did you know?"
Guy points to 7 Subaru engines on the ground waiting for rebuilds after running Magnatec

Which is why I will shop online in that country
I've done the same... I'd rather put the $$ towards a gift, than shipping.
Smart thinking, that's what I did both years
Thanks to Steevo and Scott
-
I'm in.... Fingers crossed I get this second job and work 7 days a week
International shipping.... I don't wanna

What does this have to do with no motor in Dog?? If you did remove the cat, yeah Bud, I think that is pretty lame and irresponsible. It is your choice, but that also my opinion. The cat is there for a reason and it does work. Would you like independent sources as to how and why?
B
Vix has no engine and no cat.
Ok the cat does work... Removing hydrocarbons from exhaust gasses.
But it does nothing for carbon dioxide and running a cat releases nitrous oxide which is far worse than co2 as far as green house gases go.
How about the mining of platinum and palladium? Very eco friendly that is
If I had the resources that some groups do I'm sure I could convince the world that not running blinker fluid would kill puppies.
I guess I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist when it comes to such things.
We just phased out all wet back fire here in Ch-ch because of our "smog"..... WE LIVE IN A FREAKIN BOWL. Of course it'll fill up with smoke
Thanks for the adult debate B
-
All that said, I firmly believe anyone who cuts their cat off/hollows it out is a serious arsehole in my book, regardless of state or testing.
B
OK, Who the f#@k said the "C" word and got B's panties in a bunch?
I'm an asshat then B. Ok there is no engine in my white truck, but still.
Did I remove it for hp? No.
Did I remove it because I hate the environment? No.
Did I remove it because my exhaust doesn't get up to temp on my drive to work? Yes.
There is just far too many #$$@&$#@%'s out there scare mongering about what is good and bad. I don't believe one more than the next.
They all seem full of shet. I don't know who to believe, I don't see how anyone could
Not that I'm completely disagreeing with you, but just because someone removes a little thing from their car, they are treated like a rapist.

I was walking out my drive one morning (12 odd years ago) and found $5... SWEET, opened my wallet.... CRAP.... It was mine to begin with
-
do i have my shocks upside down? it makes sense though does it? the outer bigger part is on the top, if it was on the bottom, there would be a "cup" for water to stay. I dont know about ranchos though,i actually think they are supposed to be mounted upside down, but for people with regular shocks like kyb, i think the "cup" faces down so water and dirt wont collect.
They will collect water/mud no matter what way they are, but does it make any difference? really.
I ripped my boots off as mud was starting to rust them up.
-
I'll throw mine in.
Please keep in mind when you post here that people will be at different levels with different equipment, so don't rubbish their work
Pros are not born.
Just to show that we all have to start somewhere
I have been doing better though
Built a table for my sister, just for fun..... Turns out it wasn't
Had fun making this for Kiwipete, got to use the lathe
Also helped him with his snorkel last weekend and he's almost all done

Congrats Derek Great pic
-
is that that u shaped peice of rubber??? if so yes we replaced that to
That's the bastagie
-
okay we get it out farly easy dropped the tbas and exause starter and unbolted it we had a tranny jack on the hoist so it was much easier and yes there was 2 of us not as bad of a job as i thought, but it was put on hold when we discovered a seeping RMS so we ordered a new one
IMPORTANT: Make sure that it's only the RMS that's leaking. I only say this because when I did mine a while ago it was the sump gasket that was leaking as well.
Lucky for me I caught it before the engine went back in.
-
Have you a pic of the beastie?
-
My reverse is gone so im swaping the transmission from my parts truck into my truck any tips on getting these things out and back in again???
You putting a shift kit in the new one?
Do it.
-
hey are u guys leaving the transfer case on the tranny when removing it?
I've done both each with pros and cons
Remove transfer: Lighter, but you need to remove the shifter and cover to undo the bolts on top.
I would thoroughly recommend removing the torsion bars though either way
-
My sisters cat checking out the table I made.
"New table eh"
"Kumfert test"
"Weld inspekshon"
"It plezez me"
-
The only problem with that is that we are only human, we forget, we get busy, we make mistakes, we have other things going on.
Like the unsung hero who is paying to keep this forum afloat.
Point taken though

Nice chop and cool pic

Welcome to the family
Had it dyno'd?
-
Only steps 11 & 12 have to be done when the trans is out. I really think you won't notice the difference though
