  1. Was I going to keep my eyes open for one to send you? Just got a funny feeling we talked about this before.

IIRC there should be a third plug with the window washer wiring, that could be it.

The switch is in the centre, where the hazard switch is.... Might be a spare plug in behind.

I think I've got a spare switch

  2. I believe these came stock on the jdm pathfinders/terrano. Maybe i'm wrong but I thought they did!

    Correct

All mine have had them, the thing is the pump. The motor for them is the same motor used for the wipers themselves :aok:

    Loads of pressure.

You might be able to see the nozzles on top of my bumper.

Here's the second bottle, hope you can see the motor.

  3. Interestingly enough, it's the hoarders that are usually totally unprepared for adverse conditions. Suddenly they realize that they may not be able to simply go down the street to purchase what they need, so they over react and 'stock up', depleting the limited resources.

I always have bottled water stored, food for a few weeks, propane heaters/stoves and now with the new house, I'll have a water filter and probably a small generator. Not a survival set up, but enough that I can manage to take care of me and mine for a little while without outside help. You never know...

Good points. After the 1st one I bought a few extra cans of baked beans and the like, for emergencies.

Thankfully the gas station has been resupplied. $60 per person only (Emergency staff are exempt, as they should be)

I called over to see Kiwipete's place, Linda was home and doing very well. BBQ, tent, beds in the garage, freezer full of food and a generator Pete dropped off.

They are by no means hoarders, they had the stuff before the quake. They are also offering food to others, really fantastic people.

As Ryan said the best and worst are coming out. It's a beautiful thing how some people are helping others :hugs:

  4. I just tried to get gas seeing as I'm bone dry. Oh guess what, every bastagie has bleed the tanks dry. A$#holes filling cars+jerry cans.... WHY? You $#@$#@@#@$#@$@@@.

Why do I get the feeling that they are sitting at home with their full gas tanks, rather that frickin helping people P...

Like some stupid itch my flatmate saw with a box filling up on bottled water.

I hate people, most of them are just scum :rant2:

  5. Glad to hear ur Ok Tex.

I've been in a bubble since i got home Saturday. Heard about it on the radio driving to work this morning.

If you and the other Kiwi's could do me a favor, there are always relief groups that pop up out of nowhere to collect money for tragedies like what your experiencing. If you personally see groups actually spending the money they collect and helping the people who need it the most. Please give them an "attaboy" and tell us their names. It's a lot easier to make a donation knowing that it's being used for the intended purpose.

    Dag

Cheers Dagg and everyone else in my overseas family :D

As for donations, I don't really know much about them.

So I heard after the last one people could get a Red cross grant $1000 if you'd been to the doctor...

There are some people that just try to get a few quick $$ and need a P...

Like the family living in a shelter for weeks, even though their house was ok to live in :rant2:

But not all are like that.

i stopped by the thread tex!

was rough at work (BNT) too, parts off the shelves all over the place. buildings fine though.

gf's house has no running water and is a mission getting out there as she is only 3-400 meters from the first downed building.

went and rescued tex and our flatmate in avonside after they dropped the fuel trailer into a huge crack in the road.

terrano went for a swim in the avonriver/road to get there. roads are vertually covered in silt and looks like a grey beach.

feeling a bit helpless sitting at home when there are people stuck in collapsed buildings.

thoughts are with the families of the deceased.

    Rodney

Never been so happy to see you

  6. WAVEY

Well, what a last day at work. I was in the middle of our tilt slab building when it hit.

scarpering for the door through our messy workshop I got dumped on the floor just as a large concrete mixer looking thing was heading for me.

2 of the other guys were unloading BIG I beam's off a truck with a gantry crane, fork knows how they weren't killed.

Here's a pic of our press brake that weighs a metric shet load, it had moved a good 3ft.

    Image0242.jpg

We all went home early, roads were already starting to flood.

Just after I took this pic Kiwipete drove past me.

    Image0243.jpg

    Image0244.jpg

Got to my sisters place after about 3 hours in traffic, neither her or my Mum could get hold of me, so she broke down when she saw me.

I went with my flatmate to see if his folks were ok, road was blocked off.... Damned if I know why.

    Image0245.jpg

Yes the car next to the bus is nose down in the tarmac.

His folks live on the hills, THEY were ok

    Image0246.jpg

After that we spent until 2:30am refueling the pumps and driving out of town to refuel the tanker.

My knee slowly starting to seize up after landing on it, damn it hurts to bend it either way.

The tanker is now on it's way to City care to make sure they have enough diesel.

Rodney and his GF are ok too, I'm make sure he stops by this thread.

    & :hugs:

  7. that jeep still wouldnt need a snorkel since the stock intake is above the water and also all the ignition system

    Toyota Landcruiser :aok:

that car in the mud hole above is gas powered you can see the distributor... and its still above water.

i guess the question i should be asking: is how do you water proof a distributor cap?

i got that table spoon amount from a service bulletin

 What distributor? The only 4cyl to come out in a Landcruiser is diesel.

    No.

As a certified scuba diver, I can tell you that I would have no problem driving along as long as the truck wasn't gulping water.

If you only ran a snorkel up to the bottom of the windshield, it wouldn't be very effective. Why run only 1/2 way up when it is easier to secure at the top anyway??

Also, the misconception is that snorkels are only for amphibious vehicles. Sure, that is 1 application but another is clean air. Ever follow another vehicle or 5 on a dusty road? You can't hardly see crap and start choking; well, your motor intake has it even worse. Ever wonder how fine your filter blocks? How quickly will it clog and reduce the engine's ability significantly?

There is a third reason, performance. For most vehicles, the airbox is restrictive by either intakes, filtering or both. While some snorkels plumb into the stock air box, others go with custom filtering. One will give you some increase, the other a bit more.

Water proof the dizzy with some silicone or even put in plugs to give a shot of WD40 before you go for a dip. Trust me, that works like a champ...

LOL When you are parked in a puddle. What about when you are crossing a stream. I've seen no problem turn' into OH SHEIT real fast.

It sounds to me like you have decided already and just want to argue about it...

Look at it from my side. I have a 95 WD21 with 105k miles on it that I have fixed up most of the way I want to and this includes a stock motor, headers, free flow cat, 2.25" pipe and a Flowmaster exhaust. It farts like Liberace but chokes like Ashlee Simpson. I'm trying to get all the 'free' power from it in a smog state so to match the exhaust, I plan to have a custom snorkel made that starts at the roof line with a forward facing hat (prefiltered and water separating) with 2.5" min pipe running into the fender in a aftermarket 350CFM filter before stacking up to the MAF (fardly 2+ inches, it's in another thread). I will have cleaner air through larger piping with positive pressure (if I am moving fast enough) through a filter that won't restrict it. I am certain it will net HP gains, help prolong the life of the motor and keep me from worrying about dipping a fender in some water occasionally. ;)

    B

Well done B, about everything I was going to say

this was the reason for me getting one :broken::whistle:

i was lucky nothing happened to the engine. it really is a pain in the ass to get a dead truck out of a hole. now i worry more about getting water in the cabin than engine.

Same reason why I need one.. Just to add, the engine was still running, I shut it off when I wasn't moving and had the hood under water.

After removing all the plugs she spat a bit out. I was lucky

  8. Wonderin myself... We gonna revise the themes at all? Or goein by the 2010 schedule again? Gotta fill me in on this stuff incase Tex is bein lazy again!

I thought they were pretty general themes that almost everyone has a chance to get pics of.

Too many/different themes would most likely just confuse people or make it look messy.

I'll see what Red, Pezzy and B have to add. :aok:

  9. Thanks Derek

Technically, I think we did miss Tex's bday. I saw that and sent him a text earlier... pretty sure he will curse me later for sending him a text at 4am, or some ridiculous hour. LOL!

    :hide:

    Happy Birthday all!!

    Sounds about right :D

Nope, didn't miss it at all, you just beat me to it...

    Happy Birthday Guys!!

Hey Tex, you are pretty much getting the end of your apprenticeship for a B-day present, aren't you?? Congrats on both, and here is to the next year being kick ass for you!!

    B

    2 DAYS TO GO :jig:

    Happy Birthday Everyone.

Tex, A Big Happy Birthday to you! Hope you have a great one. Sounds like this next year of yours is going to go pretty well.

 Adam.... It has started out pretty ok :aok:

  10. Some people only hear about Americans when it's something dumb (like suing for turning on cruise control and getting up to make a sandwich in your RV)

For the most part Americans are great people

David, are you a real hobbit? No TV..... Thought you were from th US, not middle earth

    k/k man

Getting back on topic though, WTF is up with their website? You guy's gimmie shet for being upside down, at least I'm not 90 degrees out P...
