  1. i have a question, the compresion rods the are on the lower control arm in the back were they mount to the frame, i am changing the bushing and what is the easiest way to do it? so far on the passenger side i have the nut that goes on the rod that goes threw the frame and the first bolt on but i cant get the other bolt in, i have been prying on the bar and i come close but i still cant get the bolt in? is there an easy way to do it? i am putting moog bushings in so they are stiffer than the stock ones. there is propably an easier way but i am just to stupid to figure it out. it was easy to get it apart kinda
  2. i just got one from auto zone three days ago, i would just get one with a lifetime warranty either new or reman.the one i have in my chevy 1500 i have had no problems with i got three years ago at orielies they had the best price and lifetime warranty
  3. ok i will do that, how long does the run in presidure take and wat do i do? after i do that will it start to idle or wat? thanks
  4. i just finally dropped my engine in finally after the rebuild, we replaced everything i go to turn the on and the engine turns over and then catches then stalls all in about 10 seconds. what could be the problem? i can force it to keep running just by feathering the throttle, but if i let the rpms drop a decent amount (about 600 or so i was under the hood not inside the cab couldn't look at the gauge) it will start to stall or just stall, it wont idle. maybe it is ignition timing, or fuel preasure, and the throttle is pretty responsive. i am pretty sure i have all of the vacuum hoses all in the correct spots. it runs rough to but there is no check engine light. any ideas are greatly appreciated thanks

It show's blown up diagrams, and some pics that i have found very helpful in rebuilding my motor and figuring out were parts should go. i don't know if it has already been posted or not but i didn't feel like searching all over this website for it. it also has part numbers and prices. it has body parts, engine, elecrical, brake, suspession, a/c and heating, cooling system all with diagrams. for both vg30e/i, and z24 engines. just thought that it could be as usefull to someone else as much as it was to me.
  6. lol i guess wondering, damn that sucks dude, i have always ran valvoline (conventional 10w30)in my 88 chevy 1500 and never had a problem with it so i will probably just use it considering it has never let me down so far.
  7. i have been told by a few mechanics that for the first oil change on a new motor you should use an oil without any detergents, so pritty much pure oil, in it and also the zddp additive, and then change it at about 250 miles or so and then use what ever oil you perfer after that and for the first few oil changes keep adding zddp additive.
  8. we used lucas oil version zddp and zinc and oil with no detergents in it for the first oil after that we are goin to use royal purple 10w30.
  9. lol thanks, those are the plugs that i bought i thought that they were higher heat range but all well. i cant wait to drive it maybe by next weekend. will a cone filter be fine for mudding and water crossings or should i just modify the stock box and make an in fender snorkel? i know that when it was stock we sucked in mud and almost hydro locked the motor so i want to do something a little better than stock.
  10. I am just about done building my pathys motor and i was just wandering, do yall think that i will notice any differnces in power now that the vg30e is bored 20 over, euro cams from 4x4parts.com, higher heat range spark plugs, bigger wires, msd coil, pacesetter headers, and a k&n cone filter
  11. does it get louder in higher rpms or does it stop after while? idk could it be the gear on the cam and the gear on the distributer to close causeing a high pitched whine kind of like in a rear end when the ring and pinion gap is to close? just posibly helpfull guess.
  12. I honestly didnt even think about the dealer good idea,i could go to a junk yard but all the pathfinders at these junk yards are vg30i's and the intake manifold is a lil diffrent I think, but I will check both the dealer and a junk yard again.
  13. Does anyone know if anyone makes intake manifold bolt sets for a vg30e, or even if someone knows the bolt grade, thread pattern, and length of bolts that would be nice also. I am rebuilding my motor and lost the bolts idk how i lost those and nothing else and i am almost done with the motor and ready to drop it in. Thanx to all those that help.
  14. i was just thinking,does anyone know if the intake manifold & supercharger from a vg33e frontier or extera would bolt up to the vg30 heads? isnt the vg30 and the vg33 the same thing just different bore size and cams/valves?
  15. My dad and i pulled the motor out of our pathy and are rebuilding it, also doin some upgrades along the way one of them is cams so witch one should i get? On 4x4 parts.com they have three to chose from one with .473" of lift and 266* of deration, one with .460" of lift and 260* of rotation, and also one with .392" of lift and 264* of rotation. The first two are $550 and the third one is about $180. Thanx for the help
  16. the reason why im asking is because, i am trying to find a new cam.my dad and i are about to rebuild the heads and possably the hole engine and why not upgrade while we have the chance. any suggestions on a cam. we arnt really looking for a high performance motor, just something with a little more power and torque. i was thinking about a cam from 4x4parts.com it is a .440"/260* cam with new lifters, and springs, and possably porting and polishing the heads and intake manifolds while we are at it plus some other little upgrades but nothing else major. any suggestions or opinions?

  19. i was just wandering if the manual locking hubs out of a 88 and older pathy(i think its a 87) would work on a 1990 because i found a set at the junk yard or even if the cv axles out of a pathy from that year range would bolt on to the front axle of a 1990 pathfinder
  20. me and my dad are about to purchase a vg30de for $90. i was just wandering wat all would be needed to swap out the vg30e for the vg30de in the pathfinder.the pathy is 4wd and a five speed. i heard that the main things to worry about is the starter and the flywheel and possably the bellhousing for the transmision.also would the transfer case in the pathy fit on the transfer case on a nissan 300zx trany? i was told that the tranies in the pathy and the 300zx were the same modle but diffrent bell houseings? thanx in advanced
  21. does anyone make a sbc convertion kit for a nissan pathfinder or what all would be needed? i think it would be sweet as hell to put a 305 or a 350 in a pathfinder and it still be four wheeel drive!

  23. one test you can do to check and se if is a sterring or sus. related problem is to lift the vehicle and grasp the tire at 12oclock and 6oclock shake hard if there is any play in it then it is sus.,if not then grasp the tire at the 9oclock and 3oclock,and shake hard if there is any play then it is a steering, problem. but if there is any play in both then your beering or hubs are bad and need repacked or replaced.i would say check for any bent component in both steering and sus. you could just need to adjust your gear box back to normal.allot can cause a vehicle to pull in either direction. i know this sounds stupid but also inspect your tires for preasure and dents or watnot also your rims. hope this helps:)
  24. i have a question,i have a 1990 nissan pathfinder xe-v6 3.0l 4x4 5 speed with a vg30e in it still bone stock except for headers.anyway my question was are all pathhies like mine this slow for example i can hardly keep up with miny vans(i am not exagerating), or wat could be wrong? also wat would cause an engine to backfire? thanx in advanced
