I currently have Dayton Timeberline AT 255/70/16 tires on my 2000 LE. They have been awesome tires in a lot of hairy situations and only rub when I'm backing up and have the wheel cranked hard left. I have pics, but uploading them as attachments keeps failing, so let me know if you want a picture.

I had my brakes done about a year ago... too long to take it back to the same guy for free. I rotated the tires recently but checked the lugs last night and they're tight. The strut tower nuts are also tight. For the wheel bearings... are the small nuts underneath the hubcap for some sort of cover for the wheel bearing or are they the nuts I would be checking for the tightness of the wheel bearing itself? The rest of your list I will check tonight (these 12 hour days are killing me), although I'm not too sure where to find the lower ball joint(which sounds somewhat easy to locate) or the inner tie rod socket. I have the service manual but haven't unearthed it to take a look. I appreciate yours and the others' replies. Shaun

The front end of my 2000 LE makes a clunking noise with side-to-side movement. It happens constantly when I'm on rocky roads, going over speed bumps at an angle, and nearly any situation that creates sideways movement for the front tires on my Pathfinder. I made a short video to explain the noise more plainly. I had to give it a hard shake, but this is basically what I'm hearing on the road. I'm pretty sure this has gotten worse over time, but it could just be that I'm offroading more and consequently focusing harder on the noise. After a recent off-road excursion, my Pathy has developed an annoying idle noise. It is eminating from the fan/serpentine assembly and is something like "sh...sh...sh...sh". Any thoughts?

i put 255/70/16 dayton timberline at's on my 2000 LE. i get that same rubbing as jarsiff. only when backing up and cranking hard left. i just avoid doing that as much as possible and it's all good. the tires look great on my stocker. can't wait for them to wear down so i can get a lift though

i had a feeling they were. i was trying to kill two birds with one stone.

i think they look pretty slick, but have a few questions for anyone who owns one. it says it has an attached skid plate... is it worth a damn? is it compatable with the middle BP skid?

yeah it looks like my factory splash guard would protect against water... but nothing else. luckily, i think i can afford both the frond and mid skid plates for now. hopefully they come in before my trip i have planned for next month. thanks for the discussion guys.

so as far as protecting the most vulnerable spots under my pathy, front and middle skid plates are the first i should buy with my limited cash?

i go off-road whenever I can... maybe 5 times a year. my stock LE has taken on some pretty rough terrain and i've been very surprised at its performance. last time out i landed on a rock near the middle cross support beam. how do the ac plates compare to the black panthers? bottom line: i'm hoping that skid plates will save my car and my wallet in the long run.

can i get anyone's opinion on the relative importance of each different (front, middle, rear, differential) skid plate, such as those from AC Parts? thanks
