  1. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't see anything on that website about how to increase power in a VG. To the OP, I recommend searching the 3.3 swap or if you like some good reading, try this....

A member here bought this rig not to long ago and is active, I just can't remember what the screen name is at the moment.

Loss of power can be from many things. You may want to state the year of your rig, how many miles you have, what mods have been done and what kind of maintenance has been performed. Several members have woke their rigs up with a simple tune up and decarboning. From there you need to help it breath(intake and exhaust). Maybe I went a bit far with what you were asking for, but hopefully I gave some useful information!

  2. Well, the spare needs to go for sure, for safety. But so do the wheels, eventually.... yuckkk ;)

The reason for the spare is that the car has been sitting nearly a year. Both front tires are bald, but the right front sidewall was torn. Like most spares, it was brand new. I needed to move the car, so the spare went on. I like the SE-R wheels, but the right front is also bent. I got my eyes on a set of nismo wheels on a wrecked unit down near Portland. The car has bigger issues like needing a transmission and a door. Add all the other small things that need to be addressed because it belonged to a 16 year old kid, I'm not worried about different wheels at this point.

Ok, back on topic, this is a what you did to your pathfinder thread. Maybe there should a Other vehicles thread.....

  3. Removed the roof rack so I could get it in the garage... prepping to address some of the leaks. PS comes first, it left a trail from the driveway into the garage.

Scrubbed the concrete, suggestions on fluid stain removal on concrete?

Kitty liter and a chunk of 2x4 or 6. Put the kitty litter down and let it soak in for a few. Then put the piece of wood down and stand on top. Twist side to side, grinding the kitty litter down, crushing it. Work your way along then sweep it up. I've done it many time including in my own garage.
  4. The remote checker box is Nissans code retriever tool for the original on-board diagnostics system. It basically does the same thing as flipping the switch or turning the diagnostic knob on your ECU. It's only at dealers, if they still have it.

  5. Welcome! You've found the right spot!

I wish I could get my bro-in-law to drop his 97 disco. Man that thing is a pile. It wheels well, but breaks all the time. I've rebuilt the top half of the engine, rebuilt the right burfield and now it needs the left. It's never ending. Never mind all the other little stuff that wont stop failing. I'm hoping there is a Xterra in his future as two friends have both bought one recently and they kick

butt off road! It made him pretty jealous.

  6. Thermostat stuck? Has it been changed at all? One radiator hose would be ridiculously hot and the other very cool. Fan clutch not operating correctly? It would sound like a semi when the engine revs. Clogged radiator? External or internal is a possibility. Water pump? When was it last changed? What's the ambient temp been like down there?

  7. Yep. Can't really worry about changing out the fan right now. Seemed like a good solution. Added it before I left work tonight and noticed a drop in temps. I had the a/c on too. The gauge was reading about 3/4 before and after read just over half. Tomorrow and Saturday will be the big test.

  8. First gen xterra kit would work. Just need to place the button on the glass and install the mirror with some minor wiring. I think I have a kit laying around with a distorted mirro. I'm just not sure on the homelink part.

  9. Being that you didn't state how many miles you have on your rig, it's possible you may need rotors due to age. Your rig may have had a brake job or two done before. The shop should be able to take a measurement of the thickness of the rotor and compare to repair limits. At the least, they should machine them, you just don't want them too thin. Ask for some specs to be recorded. It's possible the slides on the caliper are gummed up. Good techs will pull them apart quick and lube them up. Ask to see what the tech did before he puts the wheels back on.

  10. Looking at a 94's electrical diagram(nico's didn't list a electrical section for a 93). It seems most of those circuits only share a few things- ignition switch, the fuse block(under dash) and a ground point. That ground is 232M and is located behind the right kickpanel. It should be held on with a 10mm violet or a Phillips screw(pan head?). You can see the ground in the manual on page EL-82? Its possible it's loose or just needs to be tightened. That's where I'm leaning. But the ignition switch runs a close second as when you turn the key, it supplies power to certain things in the fuse panel. Is possible it lost some connection due to your keys jingling around(do you have lots of keys hanging?). Of course catching it when it happens is going to be the tricky part.

Also check the ground bolt/screw on the drivers side in the kickpanel(202M).
