343388 don't freak out if you get a silver GR2 and a black Excel-G - they are the same shock/same #

What lift are you on right now? Looks awesome
-
And so you swapped over the entire diff, carrier and all? It was an option on QX4's. I found a 97 QX4 locking rear axle assembly at a junkyard about 200 miles away, best option at this point. Wonder if it would even be worth it though (given the amount of work and $200 price of diff)

Played in the mud Also got a rack
-
Thanks for the info. Trying to lock the rear simply/cost effectively (at least less than the only aftermarket options which appear around $1k range). Welding the diff is probably a bit too aggressive

2" lift installed

Howdy, I have an open rear diff in my 97 QX4. Would I be able to swap the LSD from an 01 Pathfinder over? Could I swap just the LSD guts over or would I need to swap the entire carrier over? Thanks!

I would start looking at the turbo - do you have a boost gauge to check that it's creating the right pressure under boost? I would check for boost leaks or exhaust leaks (before the exhaust gets to the turbo)

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I was clicking around the announcements and this was a shock to me. Jared was a great guy and helped out a young, dumb me around 2007-2008. I was in my first year at CWU and had a black 92 Pathfinder that I put all-terrains on so I thought I was a badass offroader. There were some great trails north of Ellensburg that I would frequent, and one particular outing I got stuck in super deep snow. I had to walk out about 5 miles with a friend (learned a lesson not to wheel with only one car!). I had no idea what to do. After some brainstorming I thought to look into local offroad forums, seeing if anyone around the area could help salvage it. I pleaded my case to some central Washington offroad forum, Jared responded and offered to help. Even though his pathfinder was way more built than mine, deep snow is nothing to mess with - luckily Jared had a backup plan. He picked me up and we started off towards the mountains - got to know him a bit, cool laid back guy. We got to my car and luckily no one else had discovered it/messed with it, it had been sitting in a deep gully off of the trail for a good 2 weeks. Jared got stuck as well trying to get closer and attempt a tow, but didn't panic at all. He had been talking to someone on CB, a friend of his. He was giving updates on location and it turns out this friend of his was the actual planned rescue the whole time, he was in a trailered single-seat Toyota on 40" swampers - a fully built crawler. When the Toyota arrived Jared and I stood back in wonder as this thing tooled in and out of the gully with ease just to show how capable it was, then lined up to winch us both out. Found some pictures on my old photobucket Me stuck: Jared stuck: Rescue: I'm sure they both thought I was a dumbass kid (which I was) but they were both super cool about it and helped me out immensely. My parents would have been pissed had they known. Afterwards I would wave any time I saw him driving the pathfinder around, unfortunately didn't keep in touch/hang out due to being different ages and cliques. I'll never forget the time he saved my ass though, taught me a love for offroading at the same time. RIP Jared!

On the topic of intakes: most nissan air filter adapters work, I used one for a Maxima/300zx. You can find them under $20 shipped with the filter

mines black, looks great at night because you cant see all the imperfections. It used to be a california car so it has some nasty oxidization on the roof, but who ever sees that anyway?
-
hmm p i believe but both didnt work. yea i know i pussed out on getting it towed but it was above my head, that and it was stuck in a bad location. ill let you all know how it turns out!
-
well i did pretty much everything that was suggested, checked fuses fusable links all relays, starter connections, whacked the starter, i hate electrical stuff! so i got it towed today to a shop :furious: i have failed least the tow was free, yay AAA
-
heres a little additional info until i update tomorrow when i work on it- i tried jumping it, no change, and i checked most of the important fuses and they were good. i have a multimeter i just need to get good at using it, ill try tomorrow. thanks for all the help so far!

my car wont start! i was on my way to go on some trails when i slipped it in 2 besides d accidently, dont know if that has anything to do with it but right when i did that my tachometer went out (saying 0rpms when engine was still on) i turned it off to see if it would come back up and it wouldnt start up again. my cd player still works but once i turn the key all the way to start the cd player goes out and nothing happens, no starter click or anything. I suspect its a relay but im not sure which one, i replaced some but to no avail. Which one should i be looking for that would cause this? and any other suggestions on what to check. i hate electrical stuff so please help! thanks!
