  1. I keep hearing beadlocks, can you have them put on your tires or the tires come with them?
  2. Thanks folks! I am aware of popping the bead so I try to make wide turns. I read and printed an article offline but this guy was running BF Goodrich A/T's. So I guess I have to do some experimenting! I'm thinking maybe 15-18 psi will work better. I get in so many debates about airing down. I would say 75% of the people on the beach don't do it!
  3. I am new to 4 wheel vehicles so bear with me. I went to Breezy Point yesterday to do a little Surf fishing. When I finally got off the sand trail leading to the beach I started going down the beach in 4L and my tranny shifter in D2. I was going approx. 30mph and the sand was approx. 2" deep. The truck felt as though I was getting a left to right "sliding" of the vehicle. I had my tires deflated to 13lbs. Is this a normal thing? Thanks!
  4. Don't know if something is wrong with the front end or that is just the turning radius. When I try to make a U turn I need to back up because their is not enough room. Also when I am turning and go up lets say on a curb, I get a bending type metal sound. Everytime I get my Pathy greased the mechanic never says anything about the front end. Can I make my turning radius bigger?
  5. lol! That's what the manual recommends! I guess you know better than the manufacturer!
  6. I have a '95 SE-V6 Pathy with 119,000 miles. Need to know if I should run the same weight oil in the nasty winter months? This is the first winter with it. I run 5W-30 according to my owners manual. Thanks!
  7. No, I'm not stuck in 4Lo! I was in 2H which is what I am supposed to be in for normal street driving. I read my owners manual and found out how to depress the shifter to get in other gears! Thanks to everyone for reaching out!
  8. My 4 wheel engagement shifter has from top to bottom, 2H,4H,N,4L. The 4L is 4 wheel drive. The other gears are just not available to me. They just don't shift in! I have a '95 SE-V6. Is this normal or what? -bounce-
  9. I'm the guy who started this whole tranny post. Yesterday I wanted to take action on my tranny question by going to my local Nissan dealer to find out how much it would cost to flush my whole transmission system. The salesman there, a young 35ish year old guy told me(my pathy has 117,878 miles)that he would not recommend flushing the tranny at this stage because Nissan would not be responsible for the tranny shifting into different gears, leaking, etc,,,,,. He said that any dirt or sludge in there becomes part of the system! I am thinking of going to a 4x4 specialist. What do you folks think?
  10. Maybe your just used to a large turning radius! Like I said, had a '91 Towncar that ran circles around my pathy as far as turning radius! I have been driving for the last 37 yrs. and the only vehicle that turned worse than my Pathy was a farm tractor!
  11. I have a '95 Pathy SE 6. I had a '91 Towncar that used less area to turn than my Pathfinder! Why is the turning radius on these vehicles so bad and is their anything that I can do to change this without emptying my bank account?
  12. So I should just take my Pathy to my local Nissan dealer and tell them to fully drain/flush my tranny and refill it?
  13. How much is an external transmission cooler? And these Pathfinder have one that came stock?
  14. Alright people, I am convinced, like I always was, that tranny fluid must be changed! So when I bring my truck into my mechanic I should tell him to change the tranny fluid but leave what is in the converter? :help:
  15. This is a question that has bothered me for years! With my Pathfinder and prior cars! Some people say,"oh yeah, you change your oil don't ya'"? Then others say, never ever change your tranny fluid. The pressure will be different with new fluid and it will screw with the tranny! What is the correct, if their is one, answer to this question?
  16. Driving my daughter to her friends house my Pathy started shaking when I went to make a turn. I also smelled some horrible stink! It did it 2 more times that day, so the next day I took it to my mechanic and told him I thought it was the oxygen sensor or the choke. He took it for a ride and got it back to the shop. He said that the connector(mass air flow sensor connector) needed to be tightened down. I would like to know if I need to worry about this anymore and if it is a normal thing? By the way, he didn't charge me anything.
  17. Can you folks direct me to a not so expensive, online winch site? Would like one for the '95 SE.
  18. I needed one for a 1995 and just purchased one for $15 off of E-Bay!
  19. My alarm has been engaging today without any type of tampering! Today is the first day that it has happened. I have the stock Nissan alarm with the toggle on the center console to turn it on/off. Anyone else have this problem and what can I do to eliminate it? Oh yeah, I just changed the battery 1 month ago. -bounce-
  20. I was watching a fishing show on the Outdoor Network and an advertisement came on for Sams off road store in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They gave the web address(www.samsoffroad.com) I went to the site and they seem to have everything. I was wondering if any one has tried their shocks? RS-5000 or their 9 level shock? The 9 level has a switch that goes on your dashboard and allows you to adjust the ride. Wondering if anyone has tried or heard of this store or product? :help:
  21. So that means they are good in sand, mud, dirt! $100 for a tire isn't cheap to me! That is probably run of the mill! $90 and below is cheap! Thanks for the input! :cool2:
  22. Sorry, don't have a digital camera. The whole tire is knobby. Just ask for Federal tire model MS351-A/T. Thats' the best I can do. -argue-
  23. I posed a question to the board before my first tune-up. I was recommended to use NGK plugs, which I did. Also I was told to get the Bridgestone A/T tire. They didn't carry Bridgestone so the guy showed me a tire with allott of grip as I asked for. They were $100 per. They are by a company named Federal. They look really nice! Big ass knobby tires. Thanks for the help, fellas'!
  24. Want to know from you folks what you feel are the best plugs that benefit our little powerhouses. Had my SE for 4 months now and I need to give it it's summer(and 1st) tune-up. What plugs do you feel these vehicles benefit from and my pathy has 116,000 miles. Can I start to put synthetic in exclusively? Or do they do better with natural oil?
  25. What about when you turn off your engine? Do you get shuttering and backfiring? I used to advance the timing on my Harley 1-2 degrees and man, lookout. It added a very quick, responsive engine!
