  1. Overview of the 12 Step Program

The 12 Step program has its origin in the formation of Pathfinders Anonymous (P.A.) in the 1980s. The major text for P.A. is called " Pathfinders Anonymous", also known as "The Big Book". The Big Book has gone through four editions, with the latest version available from the Pathfinders Anonymous World Services, Inc. The Big Book is an account of Govols74n (Ron V.), and friends and how the formation of P.A. came about and how it worked for them. The book is primarily biographical in nature and lays out the 12 steps in the context of the lives of those in P.A. There are other books that lay out the steps in a more methodical manner, such as the book Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, (known as the "12 and 12"). Since the 12 Step program has been the most successful overall recovery program to date for Pathfinderism and has been applied to other off road addictions as well, then there are of course a myriad of other books and websites( http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?act=idx )that assist in destroying the 12 step program in a variety of contexts and from different angles (for example, you can POHO or find new ways to boost your addiction on this site by adding more and more gimmicks and gadgets to your Pathfinder for various reasons further adding to the need of a12 Step program).

The 12-step program as it has been propagated since the early days of P.A. is about finding freedom from the pull of addictive off road behaviors. That may sound like a simple thing to some people, but anyone who has battled addictive behaviors knows that in practice it can be anything but simple. It can be difficult, frustrating, confusing and sometimes life threatening or lethal as one tries to battle the sly ways of their addiction to the Nissan Pathfinder. Hopefully at this 12 Step.org site you will find some information and tools that will help you to better understand how 12 Step programs work and decide if they are applicable to your life or the life of someone you care about. The 12 Step program, worked well, can bring order, simplicity and clarity to the recovery process and make it easier to experience the serenity and strength that comes from true recovery of the Pathy addiction, as some would call it.

As mentioned, the 12 Step program has proven successful in dealing with Pathfinderism and has been applied to many other addictive behaviors. In dealing with other addictive behaviors besides Pathfinderism, however, comments from the book Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions (p. 64-65) about Step 6 are quite relevant. It brings up the relevant question of how much an addictive behavior is based on natural, God-given talents versus how much an addictive behavior is contrary to our natural instinct to survive in the brush, mud, snow, water or sand and so can more simply be done away with entirely.

Step 1• We admitted we were powerless over our love for the Nissan Pathfinder----that our lives had become unmanageable.

Step 2• Came to believe that no Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity. Not with the Pathy in our lives.

Step 3• Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of our Pathy God, as we understood Him.

Step 4• Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

Step 5• Admitted to the Pathy God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our addiction.

Step 6• Were entirely ready to have the Pathy God bless us with plenty of obstacles to overcome.

Step 7• Humbly asked Him to un-pave our way to endless bliss.

Step 8• Made a place for of all persons we had things in common with, and it became NPORA.

Step 9• Made direct amends to such people and their Pathfinders wherever and whenever possible.

Step 10• Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

Step 11• Sought through forums and POHOS to improve our conscious contact with the Pathfinder God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

Step 12• Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to Pathfinderholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Oh wait….these are the 12 Steps to being a Pathfinderholic!

  2. umm dude...

I said can you tell me where the rest of the A/C components are so I can check and see if they are missing... Maybe I should rephrase it like this.. where is the Evaporator, Condenser (i'm guessing near the front :P ) and any other major a/c parts located?.. if it would be easier I could take a snapshot under my hood and you could tell me... but I doubt they are all visible. I think I have an old haynes manual that I will check as well... I don't think it is my year but it should give me an idea.

Yeah the compressors look like the cost around $300 .. Although I see a couple of new ones on ebay for $150... I don't really use a/c all that much here in the great NW, but it will up the resale value and is nice to have once and a while.

hmm tire rub.. I will have to go out with less people and hit some bumps and see if it still happens.

one more small question... What does the Sport/Comfort button actually do? I mean I know it is to change the ride quality... but what is it doing when I press it... or is it just there to make me happy like the "close door" button on the elevator :)

    thanks

    -Mike

Sport....stiffens ride.....when turned on.....softer ride when off....(on is 4 off road, and reduces body roll a tiny bit if shocks are any good) B)

  3. Check your exhaust heat shields for rattling, and check your exhaust hangers for cracked welds...(the mounts) both of these could likely lead to your problem.....maybe something has rusted and rattled loose. but my exhaust had a gurgling sound.....was real evident at the drive through window (where the sound bounced off the wall) just an old system that was clogging up (cat converter)....replaced, no more noise.....

  4. If you think its your starter, give it a tap with a long prybar, screwdriver or hammer while someone else trys to start it. Make sure its in neutral and the E-brake is on first. If it starts, yep starter. If not, listen to where the clicking is coming from.

But keep in mind when it's completely gone, thats it....won't do a thing even with a tap....but it should get you running once or twice....

  5. If the brushes on the starter are worn enough, it won't click. Mine went just like that...turned slower and slower, then no starter at all. Pulled it, took it apart, low and behold, the brushes were worn completely out. I ordered new brushes for $7 and it got rebuilt on the floor in the garage...it's been working fine ever since.

  6. I'm in the market for a new Headunit now too. I'm replacing my 3rd Clarion. This last one, is a 6.5" LCD , motorized unit. I hate it...below temps of 35 degrees it won't turn on until the car is warmed up...usually takes about 20 minutes of driving before it turns on and most of the time my drives aren't that long to begin with. I realized that this is a manufacture fault as I've read reviews from other owners of this H/U and they have the same exact problem.

I'm not sure if I want to stay with Clarion anymore since this will be the 3rd Clarion I'm replacing. But since I have Clarion components such as a CD changer and EQ, it will be much easier to swap in another Clarion.

Man, I never thought about that....kind of like my power windows....which are very slow in the cold.... :P

  7. Hello, I've been lurking around for a while. Registered about a week ago and just now able to post.......what up wit dat? :) I was on wd21forums for a while but did not post much. I've owned a 93 pathfinder SE for about 4 years now. I'm getting ready to start some restoration on her and thought this site would be a great place to get answers to some of my problems.

I would really like to do an engine swap! My truck only has 160k (not bad for 14 yrs old) still running strong, but it leaks oil from just about everywhere possible. I guess gaskets don't last forever.
