  1. When you changed them did you have to back off of t-bars? And what was the method you used.

Actually, since the rod it's self had broken, and I couldn't get the bolts loose, I ended up cutting the bolts off with my grinder and replacing the nuts, bolts, bushings, and the compression/tension rod. I didn't mess with the T-bars, although it might have helped. I used pry bars, foul language and busted knuckles.... honestly.

  2. Same difference, there are several different names for the same thing. Who told me, like I don't know what I am talking about. I have been working on cars long enough to know different names for things. Nissan calls them compression rods on 4x4,yes. The post was not just to let people know about the bushings, but moreso the compression rod being worn through.  88 knows all.

Actually, if you were to search you would find that I just went through this same problem a few months ago....

  3. I got this off of my local 4x4 club site and I know some of you go to MOAB..(lucky MF's)

This is a cut and paste from another BBS but I thought it important enough to place here. If your a member of another forum post it there too. It is reliable as all the companys have been contacted and asked if they were aware of what they signed and all listed below said yes.

There are businesses that do not want us in Moab and I thought Id list them here. These companys all signed a petition sent to the govenor to restrict our trails. I dont think any company should be earning our money if thats what they think of us. The ones in red are the ones that I think are the ones to remember as they are the most likely to get our hard earn money.

  4. Looks awesome govol!!

Now the silly question, how or where do you take the wires into the cab?

Not a silly question at all, I do have the wiring harness, but haven't had time to run the wires yet. Most likely down the track on the stock roof rack to a door sill then on to the engine bay. I might look at it tonight. Not trying the moon/sun roof because then it might leak.

  5. Simple, easy, effective... What's not to like?

A suggestion: Replace the nuts with nylon insert style, and then tighten just enough to hold in place during driving but not super tight. Then when you hit a branch (or a kamikaze bird), the brackets will be able to rotate and maybe prevent tearing off or otherwise destroying the light!

Then your method becomes arguably BETTER than welded tabs...

    good idea....thanx

And, to me, the 6x9 lights do look HUGE, but I guess I will get used 2 them. :D

  6. Ok, started this thread to show you guys how to use C.B. antenna mounts ($6.00 each from a truck stop) to mount lights on a safari rack or spare tire carrier. I still need to wire them up and paint them flat black. Light tabs are selling in some shops for $40.00 a piece. This is a cheap alternative, although a weld is best.

    Heres the CB mount ;)

You need to remove this part...just un twist :)

  7. Columbia, MO here...although, I don't claim to be a Missourian.  I hail Arizona as home.

I go to Columbia every once in a while, been there on some doctor appts.
