  1. This is true...it's like they didn't learn anything from their mistake of the weak steering systems on Pathy and Hardbody models...they made it even weaker!!!! Makes no sense. And the X was advertised as Nissan's flagship off road wonder. Kind of like their commercial about the new Pathfinder "we took 20 years of experience, testing, and off road adventures and have built a Pathfinder like no other" (yeah, with an INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION!!!!) My ass they took their 20 years worth of experience. If they really did, it would outshine the new Xterra off road in every way..instead, they turned it into a true grocery getter for soccer moms and business men. That's what the Murano is for dummies!!!!!
  2. Haterblockers...too funny. Don't be afraid to cut sheemetal Dan...all the cool kids are doing it I know all too well that the stock WD21 steering is for @!*%e..the same with the X. Although the X stock TRAs are nothing compared to the stock WD21 TRA's....beefy as hell for stock. The X has the Calmini steering on it now, but that will soon change to either an SLR or an L&P set up as Calmini's steering woes are far from over with their idler arm problems. This X does have the "good" replacement bushings in it...but I don't expect those to last much either.
  3. And you had to go and ruin it didn't ya Dan? I didn't start this whole mess anyways...it's the haters
  4. No, I get it now....I was responding to the ones that were saying that my old Pathy could pull that Xterra out of a stuck spot....well, because of the modifications and the weight on it....nah, it couldn't...and two, it wouldn't be able to get to the same trails that the X would be stuck on anyways Not in the form the Patfhinder is now...I'm sure that with a locker, skids, and steering it could go just about anywhere the X can now...I know they're two completely different animals at this point...but I respect both trucks equally for their respective capabilities...it's just now I'm running "different" trails. You didn't come off sounding like a ****...I hear what you're saying...and thanks for the compliments
  5. I think you misunderstood what I was saying. The Pathy won't make the same blue and black trails at Paragon as the Xterra (IN ITS CURRENT FORM) would without some SERIOUS upgrades (including full skids, a locker...and despite what you may think....yes, you do need a locker to run those trails, otherwise traction over rocks that are almost half the size of the truck is non-existent...and of course a steering system...(what it has now is a replacement stock center link on there because the other stock centerlink was tweaked due to off roading that wasn't a quarter as bad as the rocks at Paragon). I explained to Jason that he NEEDS to get that done to the truck before he goes wheeling anywhere other than a fire road. It would have been the next step for me had I kept the Pathfinder because once you start twisting and bending centerlinks...it's all downhill from there. And I don't think I need to explain the need for skidplates....if you're doing anything more than mall crawling that is. After all.....It was my Pathfinder!!!!!! I've taken it off road in varying situations...I know what it is and isn't capable of, that's the point. I'm not putting it down, because I built it and I put the time into it....so my statement of what the Pathy is capable of in its current form holds plenty of merit, with the experience to back it up. I even stated previously that I KNOW the WD21 was the model for the 1st generation Xterra!!!!!!!!! So no, I didn't forget I was driving a WD22....Nissan News in an article about the Xterra when it debuted in late 99 even said that it was built using the 1st Generation Pathfinder as its inspiration...but like I said, I already stated that I was aware of that fact. In the form the Pathy is in today...it was making it up obstacles and hills without incident, slippage, or trouble that most Xterras with a 3" suspension lift and 33" tires were having trouble with. But these were what you may call "green" trails...some small obstacles, a hill climb here and there, mud, wash outs, etc...it's damn capable, and I was very impressed with it to be sure. Pezzy, I know where you were coming from...and I knew you had an X somewhere around there (or used to anyways with your "X" ). Anyways...like I said, I"m not here to defend my purchase because I don't have to. I realize a lot of you think it didn't make sense for me to get rid of the Pathy after all of the build up and time put into it...but that's how I do it with trucks...mod them, wheel them, and then look for something else when I'm not willing to put more money into it. The thing with the Xterra is, I don't have to mod it now, so all I have to do is wheel it. That was a bonus for me...getting it in a form where I didn't have to stress about spending money on mods, and something that would allow me to enjoy wheeling without worrying so much about weak stock parts breaking (as those issues were already addressed with the current modifications). So damn, just let me enjoy it!!!!! And I'll reiterate for Luker that 35's on an IFS work if you know how to wheel a rig. When the steering is taken care of, and you realize that once the front end leaves the ground...take your foot off the skinny pedal...if you don't, THAT's what shatters differentials, half shafts, and hubs....rule #1 with an IFS truck..when the front end starts to bounce, lay off the pedal....and don't install a front locker if it's not necessary.
  6. One thing I know is that the ECU will be needed for the engine. I don't see any MAJOR problems if you swapped in both the tranny and engine together...but hey, who knows..I've been known to be wrong....alot Sounds like a hell of a deal though...if it doesn't work out, you wouldn't have a hard time selling that engine and tranny to someone else looking for one...I'd say go for it, and figure it out afterwards

    Any gamers

All of the Medal of Honor games for XBox rock!!!! That's really about all I play on XBox these days...I'm always on the look out for when the next one comes out. So far I've played and beat them all...but it's always fun to go back and play them again to find new tricks and secrets.
  8. If it does stall while driving, don't do a panic mode and turn the key off and try to turn it back on again while trying to come to a stop...you risk your steering wheel locking, then you could be potentially "screwed".
  9. 35 next month....still get carded for cigarettes and beer.
  10. Oh Lord, will the Xterra comments ever stop?!?!??! Hey, welcome Jason, I'm very glad you were able to take her off my hands and give her a good home. The people here are great, and there's tons of info. Hit me up the next time you think you want to head out to Rausch or Paragon...I'd be glad to wheel with ya!!! Enjoy the "new to you" Pathy...she won't let you down Get her up there for truck of the month for August I tried the last couple of months and didn't make it...maybe you'll have more luck
  11. ....and for those that are going to say "I'm too far away from the East Coast to do that".....I'll be in Moab May of next year... ...come out and have a good time!!!!
  12. Thanks.....got it for 11k...which was a hell of a deal I can understand everyone wanting to stay loyal to the WD21 and the R50 cause, and bragging about being able to pull out an Xterra...that's cool...I was just wanting to share my new rig, not get into a debate about what can pull out what, how built a Pathy has to be to take those types of trails...whatever else, doesn't matter. This rig is more capable than the Pathfinder I sold, that's pretty much it...but it's all good...been there, done that. You all are more than welcome to come out to Hazelton PA, or Tremont PA and run Rausch Creek or Paragon with me anytime...not for a "who's is better" debate, but for some fun trail riding and rock crawling. We can run the blues, the blacks, doesn't matter. It's an open invite and you guys are all more than welcome to attend...after all, we should actually "show" what our rigs are capable of, not just talk about what our rigs are or might be capable of right? I'll also be down at Tellico in N.C. and Uwharrie Nat'l Forest for those of you that may be closer to N.C. It's an open ended invite Thanks again for all the nice comments, and for the constructive criticism as well.
  13. The bells and whistles you need to run those trails are ONLY skids, steering, and a locker...and something bigger than 32's Don't get me wrong...I loved my Pathy...and I've been wheeling for many years in all manner of modified trucks from mild to "how the hell did you pay for that?" ...but I also know its limitations, and those trails are above its limitations as the Pathy sits right now. If he wants to put on skids, steering, 33's and a locker, then by all means he can run those trails with the above and an aftermarket steering system. Or, and SAS would do the trick on some 35's to 38's That's the main reason I bought that X...becuase it can run those trails without me having to worry so much about something else going wrong
  14. That Pathy isn't going here: sly Not without some SERIOUS upgrades
  15. Yeah, unless Jason decides to get a locker, skids, and a steering system...oh, and don't forget the crawler gears...that thing would never even have a chance to go where the X can go to get the chance to pull it out. Plus, that's what self recovery winches are for
