  1. so they are the same...YES!! ok headers are the next thing i think i'm going to wory about. the whole 4wd conversion will have to wait till after winter, it's creeping up to fast....pathy can't be out of commision for any part of the winter... :D snowboarding is way too important...lol

  2. well i wantedto get the headers in before winter because i snowboard alot. i probably won't be able to start tearing my pahty appart for the 4WD untill after the winter but i want to solve the leaking manifold as soon as possible. but if someone can please post pics it would help alot.

  3. right now i have the rear drive shaft that has the bearing in it.. when i put the transfercase and new rear driveshaft in.. will it hit the bracket that holds the center support bearing of the old drive shaft?? it is a huge cross member that connets to both sides of the frame with the bearing in the middle. does the other rear tailcasing of the tranny and the trasfercase make it that much longer that i can leave the bearing support bar in or will i have to take it out? it's welded in so if i have to take it out is will be lots of fun... :hide:

also if someone can post a pic of thier rear driveshaft and tranny that would be greatly appreciated..

i'm also wonderig if the exhaust is routed differently onthe 4WD models. i want to get thorley headers but they are sayig they nly make them for the 4WD pathy so i'm trying to find the difference so if the exhaust is in a picture it would also be apreciated

    thnx

  4. Has n eone here used energy suspension bushings?? i thats what i have in my UCA's and there is a hug differnce in the way my pathy rides..but i also did the swaybar ones which lifts where the swaybar mounts so it becomes stiffer ride.. n e ways just a thought/FYI...

  5. i had always had a thing for rancho...bummer... but about the Calmini's UCA's do they allow you to crank up the torsion bar more w/o them hitting the shock? cause i sliced open a rancho shock with the stock UCA's and i hear other people have done the same...

  6. dang, ur right.. lol.. welp i'm going to start looking for another pathy then and swapout parts ...but into the the i have now.. i'll i'll swap out the engine later... basically i'll have the new/used appathy in the one i have now.. i have just been with this white 90 pathy since i was 5 years old..lol so it' has alot of sentimental value too i have always liked this thing for some reason..

but yes instead of hunting for parts i'm just going to get another one.. i diddn't realize how cheap an old one was...

  7. it's just that my current tranny has never had n e problems and i don't want to get another one that maybe has problems. besides i'm going to put low gears in the t-case so i'm going to have it appart ne ways. y not take a extra few bolts off and just use teh same tranny.

i'm just one of those kids that always wants to know how stuff works i love working on stuff and i am very patient and determined. Even if it is a IFS when i get it done i'll have learned alot. it's also a self satisfaction thing.. i just wanna do it.

when i was at the dealer the other day asking for pics of stuff i had asked how much a t-case was...just for kicks.....i don't know if ur ready for this....$3200...lol

but those pics make sense right?

  8. naw.. i like the pathy too much :D

but ion the future i am going to want to start going on hard trips...crawling over mean crazy things, it's just a mtter of time and $$...going to college doesn't help..lol

  9. have n e of you cut open a shock from your a-arms hitting it?? a few weeks ago i went out and diddn't realized that a bumpstop was gone and ...well...ooops...rs5000slice.bmp

but since then i have redone all my bushings and new bumpstops.. but before i did the a-arm bushings the a-arm was really close to the shock...like less than a 1/8 "

and my torsions wern't cranked all that much either..maybe an extra turn or 2 from what i have in my picture w/ me in it standing next to the pathy.

it's all better now but just wondering if i was the only one to ever do this...

  10. ooh...well i'll just have to take it easy then for a while.. i'm mostly going to be using it in the winter driving up to the mountains in the snow to go boarding. also occasional trips up to the trails above bigbear lake here is so cal.. i'll prolly do a SAS in a few years or maybe next year...but for know i'm going with the IFS. also i'm only on 30's so that takes some strain off the front end

  11. I had the amp hooked up at first but they diddn't sound as clean as it does straight from the head unit. i ran new monster cable speaker wire. i'm not running an amp but i am running an eclipse head unit CD5444 (55WX4 output) with JL audio XR650-CSI in the front and XR-570-CXI in the back.

i also dynamated the front doors....it made a huge difference in sound

my pathy is a 1990 ..FYI

  12. what types of problems have u had with IFS?

also if i do SAS i don't want to have it be too tall i like about how it sits right now. i dont want it to be any more than 3 inches taller max. and i don't know how big it will be after a SAS. especially with the calmini kit that is comming out...also remember that what eve changes i make to my pathy it will have to be done during a break from school.

but is IFS really that unreliable??

  13. Yes it is all about what i wanna do.. i did want to just use the nissan IFS but i saw that kit on the calmini site...now it's just a matter of time of when the kit comes out and how much it's gonna run. ah man i'm like a kid in a candy store right now.

i e-mailed them asking about release date and price don't know if they will release that info yet but Y not try?

n e ways no matter which way i go (IFS or SAS) i still need to figure out the t-case and tranny

getting the new rear tailshaft housing makes sense. it shows that in the manual from factory. if i add that other housing will i have to change much insde the tranny to make it work or is it pretty straight forward after i get it apart?

  14. ok this calmini SAS is frigg'n SWEET!!! but does it lift too or does it do a SAS at stock ride hight? i'm starting to think i should just wait for the kit.

as for needing a new tranny i was looking into that too wondering if i needed a new tranny but asfter looking at pictures from the nissan repair manual it looks like part of the tranny is different.

take a look at this pdf doc and look at page mt-33

this is out of the 1995 pathy book but i have a 1990 i don't know how much they are different

    here is the link

    Pathfinder 1995 ch: MT

  15. i jsut saw the pic of th calmini SAS... wow..looks like it would be easier to do that then to try to peice together everything from scratch..i'll still need a new tranny and t-case but..ahh decisions decisions.. what do u think the price for the kit would be? have u heard n e thing on how much longer it will be till the sas kit comes out?

  16. that is a genius idea!.. i'll have to keep a look out.

just curious,..this name calmani...i have not heard of it until i started on this board are they a good company? i have always liked rancho but they don't offer much for the pathys

also what does IFS stand for??.. i'm assuming it's refering to teh nissan 4WD system tha pathys come with.

one more thing ..does anyone here have phone numbers or e-mail adresses of people that are doing or have just done a SAS?? that way i can try contacting them for parts..thnx

  17. thnx for all the help! i have already learned alot through this forum and other minor research i have done ...just in the last 2 days!! welp back to school tomorrow hitt'n the books hard. and hopfully i can get this project on the roll very soon.

    thnx again

    :D
