but i'm 2wd so i was basically screwed no matter what??...i was thinking that if the right rear would have just spun instead of the lsd kicking in and making the left rear spin ... i woulda been ok....or u can just call me crazy....and ha yeah i know the ultamate solution would to not fall in the frigg'n rut to begin with...lol
-
well i had a lip mount antenna before on the left side so i took everything apart to take out the old coax put the new coax in it's place....there is also no drilling involved when going through the plug... i just made a small hole then pushed the coax through the rubber..it's practically water tight...
now ur probably thinking ....if i already had an antenna and radio then Y did i start this thread..lol
my lip mount was on the very top of the pathy above the back window and was sqweezed between the body and the door metal then ran through the plug with the brake light cables in it...i was changing it to the mount on the spare tire rack and needed a different way to get the coax in...and nothing is being pinched this way...
-
i'm running a yaesu ft-8100.
i mounted a larsen antenna on the spare tire rack right near the hinge.
Then ziptyed the coax to the bar and ran it across behind my bumper ziptying it to where ever i could along the way then through the rubber plug.
I found the plug under the carpet in the back there is a big peice of foam that i pulled out that fills a dip in the very back near the left rear speaker right next to the jack storage.. then ran the coax just forward of the jack storage then behind the plastic under the rear window and behind the plastic above all the windows all teh way up front then dropped it in behind the dash right next to the windshield then behind teh carpet behind the peddals to the radio mounted under the regular stereo...whew.. here are some pics....
one more note.. i cut a groove in the foam to keep the coax from being bent at a sharp 90 when there is weight on top
so yeah ..thats whow i did it...

yeah the mounts are made by anchor and i got them for about $80 a piece out here in motclair, CA at a place called graves auo parts they ordered them and had them next day....
it's chaeper there than from the stealership..they wanted like $120 for each one
thnx for the engine mount advise..good call..
-
so what would be good to have if i were in that situation again... the right rear wasn't tucked and rubbing it was just tucked up there pretty good...
-
so far i have replaced one mount and the bouncyness has 95% stopped... i'll do the other side tomorrow..
-
so if i were in the same situation again and i tapped the brake the lsd would kick the power back over to the right rear? ..(that doen't make sense to me)...i had my left rear suspended..
-
So if u havea locker both wheels spin together no matter what? even through turns?
lets say i'm stuck in a rut where one tire is in the rut...with LSD the tire hanging in the rut will spin . but with a locker... will they both still spin? or will i have the same results..one tire spinning?
(I used the rut example cause.. i backed up into a nice rut yesterday ...lol oops.. eh, maybe 3 ft deep.. the diff was on the ground...rear left tire was spinning in the air...while the right rear was tucked and not spinning at all...that was fun to get out of.. :help: )

sweet thnx i'll look for those plugs under the rear fender.
i'll get on that this weekend.

i don't know how many of you have a CB or a Ham radio in thier pathy but i'm in the process of putting a new ham radio antenna on mine and was just wondering...what has been the best way to get the coax ran inside the pathy? i'm going to be mounting mine on the spare tire rack but thehn i don't know how to get the coax insode while keeping water out...
thnx

yeah i have the rear sway bar taken out and I jacked up the rear of the pathy from the trailer hitch to see if they would fall out and watch for stretching brake lines etc.. and everything seemed to be fine. so if i get longer springs i think everything will be ok???..i'm thinking of just ordering the calmini 3" ones i know it's more $$ but how would the ride differ? which way is actually better...if it matters at all.. so basically if money was no object for getting 3" lift what would be the best way? would u still use the JGC springs? or would u get new ones from somewhere else? if so where from??
thnx
-
ok thats good to know about adjusting it by cutting... i was aloso looking at the calmini web site and saw in the 3" lift kit there are a rear track bar bracket... i don't know what that is and if it's required or a good idea...what does it do?? also a brake line extension bracket... with my shocks not being as long as the calmini ones ...i am thinking i won't have as much travel so i won't need the brake extension ...but i still don't know what the rear track bar bracket is??....
-
ok so now that that is out of the way...i have read that the best is to just go to the junk yard is that right? or is there a better place to get them? also how does it ride with the f100 or JGC coils(don't know what year or if it matters) ? ...i'm assuming it's gonna be more stiff...and how much do they actually lift? i thought it was 3" but i just read 3.5", i don't wanna get too big i'm only on 30's..
thnx
-
i have read all over the forum that i could get JGC coils for 3" but the rancho shocks that i have say they are good with up to 2.5" lift. i know rancho HAD 2.5" rear springs but they are now discontinued.. what other springs are there for 2.5" ??... if u were to put the 3" springs, would i be OK with the rancho shocks??...i mean ..it's only 0.5" more right??

it only does it in first gear when i floor it...i figured today that it is the mounts so i'm going to replace the engine mounts and tranny mounts...and if that isn't the problem then....i have new mounts n e ways
then i'll go from there.... but i am now thinking it's the mounts.... i'll be working on this on saturday....we'll see what happens...
-
i'm guessing at least 100K on this clutch and i believe that seal has been replaced before and i do not have any oil leaks that i can see and it does not drip when parked and no oil is burning....just a few good signs
the slippage and bouncyness only happens in first gear...i can shift to second and floor it and it takes off just fine....
-
no i havn't tried that but how would oil get onto my clutch to make it do that??.. this sounds bad... very bad...this is the third clutch in this pathy my mom used to drive it and now for the last 2 years i have been driving/ going on adventures with it... it has 338,000 miles on it...i love this thing and i would HATE to get rid of it...
-
ok well it seems like when i start off quick in first gear it seems like it starts to slip then the entire pathy starts to bounce as if i forgot how to drive stick....lol.. so yeah i'm thinking my clutch also becuase i have to push it all the way to the floor to shift.... but thnx i'll take a look around...
has anyone used a centerforce clutch here before? and do you like it?
-
My clutch i going out and and i am going to replace it this weekend but i was wondering what you recomend.. should i replace with a OEM clutch or go aftermarket? i want a better clutch. the calmini ones sounded like a good idea just a little pricey like always.. but i don't know it it's worth the extra $$
thnx

ok thnx, i'll crawl under there today and take a look. i'll post what i find
-
this was maybe overed somehwere else but i could not find anything.
when starting out quick in first gear my stick jerks to the right... any ideas?? i was thinking my tranny mounts maybe broken or something.. could the whole tranny be moving??
thnx
-
i left the front sway bar on the took the rear off... it was noticable difference but i got used to it pretty quick. impressed with how much easier it flexes off road though.. i went up to lytle creek and had some fun up there just the other day.
-
weld in a front cross member.... that just made things that much more fun....but thnx for the info. i'm most likely going to be getting another pahty and swaping parts... so have u already done the conversion or are you in the process?
-
yeah i just got BFG all terrains a few weeks ago. i think that will work out just fine
