oh ok makes sense. we got shocks like that for our bikes. but the most basic ones use a shim stack: a buncha flexible discs that move when oil is forced through them.

ok. so for bikes the damping on some of the shocks gets pretty complicated. can someone please inform me on how the dampers in car shocks work? i understand theres probly differences between offroad and street. but how do they work? basic grease and plunger? shim stack? or am i waay off? :confused:

ok. i know absolutly nothing when it comes to car suspention. i just know that my dampers are blown.(sorry bike terms, when i compress the suspention it keeps moving up and down) can anyone point me in a general direction for ne shocks and such? and what will it cost me price wise? id also like to lift it maybe 2 inches. also for an aftermarket bumper where would i go?

Where do you ride and what do you ride? I have an '04 Rocky Mountain RMX I loooooooooooove that bike. (I've got a bunch of others too, but... the RMX is the center of the pack) Its kinda hard to decide if I want to spend money on bikes, or my truck I want to get a setup like dj's yeah your the one that showed me this site from ridemonkey. i got an 04 balfa bb7. and also a draco industries v3 and i just received a heavy bikes connect four jones edition prototype. yeah thats pretty much what i wanna do to mine. any one know what tires run? later "broken bike mike" Uh Oh, shes on to me! ok so im looking to get new tires for my 96. my buddy has 31's on his and says that it doesnt rub unless its floored in reverse. and frankly i cant think of anytime i would be floored in reverse so, could i fit 31s without any probs on stock suspension?
