  1. oh for the love of mud   (and the jeep is pretty sweet too!) sly

ole cj-5 on 44's with the stock d30 and 35 stuck in that picture, haha. he's just now upgraded to d44 f & r and now locked f & r after that little trip. needless to say, he broke his rear driveshaft trying that hole, which is now 39" deep. the leader of our offroad club tried it with his superduty on 37's.. lets just say 2 broken winch cables later and finally a military hummer with a brand new warn 16.5 winch finally got him out after 8 hours. i tried the hole next to it and buried my pathy half way up the doors.

sorry so off topic, but heres another pic of the beast, slick.

  2. there isnt any 'trails' here in fla, its at ur own risk kinda wheeling here, if u get caught then ur screwed, the rednecks here trash everything, theres a mud hole that swallowed a bronco on 36's, its not uncommon to have that happen here

everywhere we wheel is illegal but the cops understand why we do it, ive actually been pulled out by a cop

    well, dont move to georgia!

    it's an everyday thing here

  3. You can't compare the two because one is coilover based the other is leafs.. but you can see just how much stuff the MC kit comes with. It's not just a few crossbraces.

    As to Calmini.

I know of many people completely dissatisfied with their service and quality. In their steering system, the idler arm bearings die after half a season. They keep powdercoating stuff that they shouldn't. I personally know of two people that nearly had balljoints nearly come off their UCAs because of that. Their bushings ALWAYS squeak... One of my friends called them up before ordering their UCAs to check on the squeak problem and they gave him a personal guarantee that they have a new improved model of bushings so he doesn't have to drill and tap for zerks. Within a month of installing their crap he had the problem occur on truck. He called them back and he was told off... How dare question them

The D21 cage has been pimped out by them in magazines and their site for more than a year, and I know somebody that has been asking them about it (he's ready to buy!) since he saw it yet they don't answer his calls/questions. Just look how long it took the WD22 SAS kit out there and to ship out to customers. The WD21 kit has been in the works for ages as well.

I have written a few emails to them asking questions about their products, and I never even once got a reply. Every time I called them in person they give vague and condescending answers. All I wanted to know if the idler arm bearings are the same for their WD21 and WD22 kits. They didn't have to treat me like garbage.

Their shipping schedule is ridiculous, I've heard of people not getting their stuff after being charged for months. My 4x4 shop now jokes that if you're planning to order something from Calmini, you may as well do it 6 months ahead of when you plan on using it.

    Oh and there is this:

I have somewhere at home the mp3 of a phone conversation between Steve Kramer of Calmini and the person from Pirate, I should upload it tomorrow.

oh, well.. i really don't know anything about calmini because i've never ordered anything from them.

alot of the toyotas in havoc are running stuff from MC and they have not seen alot of problems from their items (steering, interior cage, etc) so it seems to be a good way to go if you have a yota p/u.

Another note on calmini, theres a guy in havoc also that has a badass little samurai with everything you can think of and he got alot of his stuff from calmini (t-case gears, birfield cups, gears, and the heavy duty front and rear axle shafts) and never once had a problem with their shipping and whatnot. Maybe its just the nissan part.

ignore all the wires and dirt and whatnot. its sittin for 6 months now so im redoin all my wires.how i put it makes it real simple to use and access, just a bitch to instal the brackets into that hard plastic below the radio with limited room to work.

oh yeah, i put the 4wheel drive knob on the gear and shifter and vica versa just in case you were wondering why they were like that, lol.

  5. dang. 4000 bucks? i got my 88 for 900 bucks with no rust or anything. just needed a new fuel filter/airfilter, general tuneup. it's served me well through all the stuff i've put it through, basically just dogging it through mud everyday.

the only problem i've had with it is the damn alt frying everytime i go through holes over my tires deep. and my dang tick tick exhaust leak and busted cat thanks to a log i drove over.

  6. 93 ford taurus..

i did as much as i could do it... lol.

400 bucks in my exhaust, intake, etc etc.. i miss the old car. i totalled it. i wasn't paying attention and slammed on the brakes and went up under the other cars bumper going 65 -thnkboutit-

none of the indicator lights on the dash work except bright lights and brake light

doors dont lock, one window goes down but i have to pull it back up by hand, and the others has a busted motor and a piece of wood holding it in

    outside

    no front bumper

left headlight sagging due to broke mount

several dents everywhere from makin my own paths through the woods and everywhere else

    ****** factory roof rack thing

    engine

    old, 221,000 miles

starter is still out, its getting annoying finding a hill everywhere

    slight oil leak

    really bad exhaust leak

  8. i orig had my firestik mounted on my bumper. i just drilled into it, put a litte plate and mounted it up. i ran the cable from the firestik down through the bumper and ziptied along the frame til i got to the little guamet (spelling?), went up through there, under carpet, into the cb. it worked great and you never saw a thing.

now i have a big ole whip. where the spare tire actually fits on, i welded a small, thin plate of steel at the very back right on the actual carrier and drill pressed a hole. now it all fits together well. i have my spare on, then you cant even see the heavy duty spring. i got black zipties and ziptied the cable to the backside part of the main carrier and routed it through a tail-light. works like a charm and you dont even see the cable, just a little bit of the ziptie.

  9. My good buddy Will just achieved Eagle Scout and one of his merit badges he had to make a cb radio type of thing and hes starting to get into these because of that project. his dad is real big into ham radios and whatnot so hes tryin to get informed on it. i read that entire webpage and i'm still confused by it all. i really dont know much about them. all i know if is i have a cobra cb, whip that works great, and a loud ass pa speaker. thats about as far as i venture into it, haha. any other good sites y'all know of that can get me out the dark on this hobby?

  10. i unfortunaly did not capture any pictures of it in action with no doors or sunroof. the doors were easy as crap to get off, needle nose pliers and a little hammer. i wrestled with the sunroof for a while, stripping screws left and right until i discovered it will slide right off.. haha.

i did have a nice cut across the side of my face for a while where i stuck my head out trying to get down a washed out bank and i turned my head strait and ::bam::. a branch jumped out and popped me..haha it was fun though

  11. Horsepower is a remarkably poor measure of off road ability...  :nono:

    B

    haha..

did you see the mall crawler video in the video section that came from Havoc Offroad(the club im in)?

hes got a manual 454 runnin off propane under the hood of his blazer. i'll admit, hes also got beadlocks, gears, 39's, axles, lockers, everything you can thimk of... but he always hates on the yota and jeep guys (always joking and in good humor of course) saying his power is what gets him around and to be honest, i believe him. if you see where he goes in that full size rig, the trails he makes by pushin that petal to the metal, you'd believe me to. he goes places in that beast that the toys and heeps cant go and hes double the size. maybe im tryin to defend a lost cause here, but whatever, lol. i've seen toyotas with only 33's and 3 inch body lift do some crazy @!*% at RR and GR, but he steps up and guns it and gets things done.

    horsepower

  12. I forgot you said a little trimming. I honestly thought you ment W/O trimming. Oops sorry haha

Do you know someone that actually has 35s with the 3 sus and 3 bod lift? Do they wheel? Or is it just for looks?

    Rami

yep, i sure do. i'll try and get a picture of it. he wheeled it every weekend

  13. :contract:
