  1. Just thought it might be cool if people had a picture of thier last vehical before they got the Pathy! I had a Mazda Rx7 i loved every minute of it, but it was time for a change a bit of a drastic one! but i'm lovin every minute on my pathfinder having fun with it in a different way then i did my car. I went from spinning around low to the ground to climbing over everything on the ground. I loved the rotary engine learn't tons about the car and rotary engine. Now i'm learning more about my truck its a whole different adventure.
  2. My Clunk was the end links as well thanks for all the help! everything is "sound"now.
  3. just an idea... if you wanted you could either put on AC coils or OEM coils just in the rear, even with little mechanic experince you could do it in under 2 hours, really you'll only need a spring compressor, a jack and a few jack stands, and a typical socket set.
  4. the water pump "should" be replaced when at the 100k mark.. and the tensioner it "should" be replaced as well, but it is a bearing and i do know some guys that have reworked grease in to the tensioner bearing(sealed bearing??) and it seemed to work.. personally i replaced it and would recomend you do the same... either its your time or money in labour, and i would say its not worth skimmping out on those parts either way.
  5. Hey i'm just going to add I have the same one as well they look good, fit real well and i think its probably the best part that i have added to my truck. I doubt i will ever put a ding in it, it seems really really solid...
  6. sorry about the low light i tried to brighten them up a bit!
  7. wish i had a pic of when slush was level with the bottom of the doors
  8. last winter a few weeks after i bought my truck
  9. I bought my pathy with 154xxx kms in december 2004 it was a one owner all recipts from the dealer allways serviced at the dealer. At 168xxx k's i replaced the timming belt, water pump, cam and crankshaft seals (Where i found all 3 seals had been leaking very small amounts of oil), and also replaced all the belts. The coolant hoses were all in real good shape and didn't need to be replaced. Unfortuantly i did disconect the AC lines (following the Haynes Undergarments Mannual :furious: ), and i still need to get it recharged. But overall everything went well. I beat on my Pathfinder pretty hard all winter and got it stuck in lots of slush and big snow drifts on a few frozen lakes. In april I decided to order the AC lift with a bit of hesitation. I liked the offroad ability (even with real worn out Dunlop Rovers) and getting to know the capabilities and possibilties of the truck stock, but didn't want to lose the streetability of the truck. In May I installed the lift with no real difficulties, and drove around on stock wheels for a few weeks. Thanks to some help from the the forum i picked up some US Wheels 15x8 with 4inch BS, from summit racing and some BF AT ko's 32x11.5 tires from a local tire shop. Shortly after i did experince CV problems, but just a torn inner boot. immediatly i replaced the passanger side's boots both inner and outer with no real problems, during this time i was able to solve my "clunk in the front" which was a stabalizer link on the passanger side. I still have to do change the drivers side CV boots beacuse I know they don't have to many miles left before one of the two boots bite the dust. Now my truck has 174xxxk's on it ihaven't had any real problems i'm really happy that i bought this 4x4 i do alot in the outdoors and i know i'm really going to use this truck to its maximum potential. I'm really posting this just to thank everyone on here for all the helpful information that i recieved and the questions that i had were allways answered. i'll post some pics of my pathy in my drive way and next time you see it i promise it won't be clean
  10. I was curious about what fuel consumption I can expect after 32's. I realize that the gear ratio is raise but so is wieght and bulk is increased as well. I would expect probably highway would be better then city, i'm more intressed in what kinda MPG is on the highway. Also any idea on how much the odometer/speedo is off. Thanks Rob Rez
  11. for the front Nissan struts i have a 98 chilkoot and i'm the second owner, i have recipts that he gave me and he had the front struts replaced 3 times. Twice Nissan replaced both sets and another time the left and a few months later the right. When i bought it he told me that they could probably use replacing, turned out that they just passed requirments. I recently replaced the susp. with the kit from 4x4parts.com, and am pretty happy with resluts. Maybe it was bad luck? But i have the papers to proove it and the previous owner never really took it off road(so he told me).
  12. I second that the Dunlop's are really not too good of a tire! and would say traction is poor on anything other then dry roads.
  13. ok well thanks guys. just don't want to install something that isn't going to work right.
  14. i just got my AC lift today and the one rear rancho has 2 dents about a 1/4 inch round and 1/16 deep dents.. not to terrible, called ups they are going to check it out, and get back to me.. i don't really want to wait, but would that damage the internals on the shock, if i need to i can take a couple pics.
  15. ok perfect thanks for the info... everything makes sense, i did the timming belt and probably the belt is just a bit too loose. and the steering only feels messed up when i'm on my drive way worn out tires and the tarmack maybe be the problem, i never really noticed it before but there was also snow on the driveway. thanks for all the advice to help me solve my problems, i really do appreciate it!
  16. the rubber boots on my truck are torn up real bad, i realize that they are really just dust boots, but would that say that really say anything about my struts themselves
  17. When i turn my steering wheel at a complete stop at times the wheel does not turn smoothly, it kinda turns rough like in stages, but when the vehical is moving it seems to turn just fine. Also it seems it only does the erratic steering motion when the vehical is cold? any ideas, my other question is when i trun my steering wheel and max it out to the left it really squeels a high pitch noise. But if i relax the wheel just a bit there is not more noise any ideas i'm thinking there might be a link between my two problems. ***In a resent post i had a problem with a clunking in the front i realize my steering componets may be a possibility as well, but didn't want to take away from that post because it seems that its a good topic to be left alone.*** Thanks for all the help. Rob Rzesnoski
  18. thanks guys for all the help i'm gunna start everything next week, i'll be sure to keep a eye open for anything that looks like it needs to be replaced. thanks all the reply's i'll keep you guys informed on my findings
  19. Yea thanks for the relply i'm gunna go check some out tonight. I wasn't planning on odering the The Ac lift but i just did, i'm not to big into off roading maybe with the lift i will be, but looking at the documents from the previous original owner the rear shocks are original... the fronts i think are pretty much gone. so i figured i needed a susp. overhaul i ened up ordering the Ac bottom 2'' lift package for 549.45. and hopefully it solves the clunking in the front end, i'll let you guys know how i like the lift. i just hope i don't lose to much driveablility in the city.
  20. seems that i have some clunking in the front end, a small bump causes a "clunk" "clunk" its not terrible but its noticeable. I'm going to replace the front struts this weekend. i'll see if that does anything, i'm thinking while i'm in the process i might see a worn out bushing that may be causing the problem. Do you guys think it might be the struts, or what should i look for to solve my front end clunking? Should i go with munroe or rancho for my sturts?
  21. I actually just used a strap wrench and 200lb mexican.. seriously i'm not being racist
  22. just replaced the timing belt, water pump, camshafts and crankshaft seals, new timing belt tensioner, and got all new belts. i'm sure the timing is correct, marked all the sprockets and counted teeth. I seem to hear a little sound that i never noticed befor, just can't tell what it is maybe just the new belts, or possibly i'm just really paraniod. if i would would have messed up with the timing would i really have noticed..... BABBABA-BANG?. everything looked pretty good but ovbiously i'm not over comfident in my work!
  23. Ok guys, now heres a story. The reason i had problems with the seals was not just because i'm a weekend mechanic(although it played a part).... but because Piston Ring (canadian auto part branch) had the camshaft seals and crankshaft seals as the same part. so basically after 2 hours of screwing around tring all kind of ways to fit a 2inch seal in a 1.5inch area i compared the new seals from the ones i took out, i finally realized that they were different. i guess i should have compared the new seal with the old seal but i didn't i just figured that their computers were right. turns out that 4 of the 6 Piston Rings i went to all gave me the same thing "nope they come up as the same part number" finally at the main store a fella checked it out, end of the story my Pathfinder has 3 new seals and the timing belts finally back on.
