  1. I personally don't like my 5000's all that much. i find they will bottom out too easily. On badly rutted trails it will bottom out, it doesnt help that i'm not running any sway bars, but i'm sure i can get something that will be stiffer. I'm thinking of changing to another brand, get something abit more stiffer on trails but still smooth for highway ect.. Anyone know if Bilstein's makes shocks for our pathy's? I have always like the way they ride.
  2. that's what i was thinking.. it doesn't seem to dig down enough. Just wondering if anyone ever seen one in use. For $50 it seemed like something handy to have. Any other devices on the market besides the Pull-Pal?
  3. Anyone know if this will really work well? I have looked at the pull-pal system and it seems very well designed and sure to work. If anyone has any feedback on this product, let's hear it!   4. Yup it cost me $200 for the timing belt and tensioner & labour. They covered the cost of sending it to the other garage, spark-plugs, pulley pin, labour. I dont think i'm going to bother with the headers,, it will cost me way too much. The headers will cost me almost $500-$600 to get them into Canada, then another 150-250 in labour.. too much $$ to put into a old truck.
  5. Alright problem solved finally. The bottom pulley has some sort of key/pin, the first garage after they change my t-belt i guess they used the wrong key/pin when i would hit higher rpm's that pin would get lose and trow off the timing again. So he order that pin, got that installed and then noticed that 1 of my spark plugs was seized. He got that out and the plug was broken. So i was running on 5 cylinders too. Now it run's fine,, now if i can fix those leaky manifolds it would run even better. Anyone know how much time it takes a garage to swap out those headers, knowing there's probably a couple bolts broken off of it.
  6. compression test was done, and all was ok. the truck is still at the other garage that took over the job. I should have it back tomorrow.. I'm in NB Canada.. probably nobody on this board in my corner of canada.
  7. Well i'm getting nervous now.. the original garage that was working on it, handed the truck over to another garage to see if they can fix it. If the second garage cant fix it, i dont know what i'll do.. I might have to take the hit and pay out the ass for Nissan to try and fix it for me, if they cant, it will probably be the end of the pathfinder for me. Because i cant drive this on the highway everyday like it is now, and i dont trust that rough idle to bring it out in the woods. Wish me luck!
  8. so what's the easiest way to make sure the timing belt timing is correct?? Using a timing light?? does the top dead center method work on these engines?
  9. it could be since i changed my upper and lower ball joints and got a alignment also.. hopefully they can fix it, it's starting to get frustrating after 1 week in the shop..getting a rear bumper built for it this week. Here are some pics, haven't posted any since my front bumper build.
  10. back to having problems again, timing must still be off.. When i get to 100/kmh on the highway and let off the gas and bring the rpm's to 2K, the whole truck shakes like a engine mount would be broken or something. seems to only do it when i'm over 70km/h or so..
  11. Problem solved.. timing was off. The bottom pulley the marker on it was not very visible. They had to sand the pulley down to find the original mark on it. Thank god the engine is still good.. now i have another problem... freaking manifold "tick tick tick tack tack tack" noise is starting to drive me nuts.

  13. I brought it back to the garage today.. they will do a compression test tomorrow.. Hopefully the engine isnt toast.
  14. I brought my 93 pathfinder in to the garage because it had been making alot of tapping noise lately on startup. Well come to find out the timing belt tensioner broke and the timing belt was rubbing against the cover, trying to come off. Well got the tensioner replaced, they installed a new belt also. Now here's my problem.. the day i brought the truck in i noticed that it wasn't really driving right anymore.. every 5seconds or so at idle, i would get alittle drop in rpm's. So now that everything has been replaced.. i still have that drop in rpm's and my truck sounds like a diesel now when it idle's. It also feels like it's sluggish around the 60km-80km/h range.. to keep a speed of 120km/h on the highway i need to keep the rpm's up around 4k all the time.. It just doesn't feel like the same truck anymore.. not the same quiet idle and power ban.. not that the pathfinder is a rocket or anything. I brought it back to the garage and they fixed it again, said the belt was off by 1 teeth. But the truck is still the same. Any ideas?? I'm going to check the ecu tonight to see what it says.

  18. ok thanks greg.. When i got under the engine, i noticed that there's really no protection or cover for teh alternator. They could have atleast used some of that rubber skirting to try and cover it abit. How hot does the alternator get? Concerning the screen.. a jeep that was running with me that day had it on is rad.. after we went into that big hole that took out my alternator, he unclipped the screen and shaked it off to get all the big chunks of mud & grass off.. then put it back on for the next hole. It kept his rad nice and clean compared to everyone else that was overheating after that hole. It was just bad swampy mud water..
  19. Hey everyone.. I had my alternator go out on me last weekend during a long day of trail riding. The light came on, and i managed to drive off the battery for the entire day. When i got home put the garden hose in it for a few minutes, and the next day it seemed to be fine again. But what a bad place for a alternator! Has anyone tought about maybe making alittle shield for it, so mud doesn't get kicked up as easy. That seems to be the only problem when going in deep mud or water..ohh and the rad too, it got covered with mud & grass and almost made the truck overheat. I think i have the fix for the rad.. just going to attach a piece of window screen to stop the bigger mess from covering the rad.
  20. I had the same problem when i purchased my pathy.. come to find out it was a bad connector that is attached to the positive terminal on the battery. If i had my truck here i would take a pic,,, i'll have it tomorrow. On my positive terminal, there are like 3 black plugin connectors, 1 of them was bad, and causing the radio, lights and all the warning lights to come on while driving.
  21. 94 Pathy..i dont think he checks the board daily... but we are located in New-Brunswick, Canada. I got around to taking a few more pics of the bumper, i ended up breaking my winch (clutch broke) over the weekend trying to pull out a 1 ton diesel. I pulled him out 3 times before it broke on the 4th. It didn't help that the idiot wasn't in gear and i was basically pulling 10,000lbs of dead weight. And he was telling me earlier that he would have to tie a tow line to the pathfinder so he could pull me trough the trail. Anyways, i removed and returned the winch to Costco the next day and got the new 9500lbs winch! But it sure did test out the bumper pulling all that weight. Now i know it's solid as can be.
  22. Thanks for all the comments.. all the props should go to Reg (TMS) from Team Mod Squad,, he's the one that built it freestyle! Not bad at all i think, for his first pathfinder bumper. i'm going to be taking more pics of the bumper this weekend hopefully. Currency right now is 1USD = 1.10CND It was painted for the finish, at some point i want to get it powder coated, but there's more important things to get done to the truck, i gotta get that front end lifted to match the rear! Today i'm getting the front and rear sway bars removed.
  23. They dont sell these tires on Tire Rack.. they are Remoulds made by a company in Quebec. The tire brand is Techno Pneu. I dont think you'll find a tire this aggressive on Tire Rack in a 31" for under $100USD a piece. For reg to build another bumper like that i think he told me that he would charge around $500-600 bucks CND.
