  1. The same thought came to mind when I saw that pic. The man is a virtual smorgasboard of visual aides. Another example of the awesome support on this forum.
  2. Bumpstops........ My assumption is that they keep my struts from clunking hard at full compression or wait ... do they stop the clunk at full extension? I need suspension education here. Additionally, can anyone expand on replacement cycle, and if they arent integrated into the boot are they still something that needs to be replaced with struts off? Do I have seperate bump stops on my 2001 stock? Or is it an add on? anyone care to explain? Re. Rock Auto: For a company that doesn't focus on web service that Java part finder was kick ass and fast. I only ordered the strut mount/bearings this time so shipping was simple. But I will keep that multi-distibution point stuff in mind for the future.
  3. already been there. They list strus for 2001 at $72, mounts at $63, and bearings for $13. I am considering getting just the struts there. and saving $55 bucks by getting the moogs at rockauto.
  4. Anyone ever use RockAuto.com ?? They are listing moog strut mounts with bearing for $49.79. Would like to see free shipping, but even tacking on $9 for ground, looks like a good price.
  5. My springs have arrived. Its a nice kick in the pants to order my struts. Still unanswered is the question of bumpstops. Do I already have them stock? I would look, but since i don't know what I'm looking for or at that really doesnt help. Do I need to replace them.... or add them? Is it something I can do later? Or does it need to be done with the struts off?
  6. yeah i figured it was cheap insurance..... so are you getting the ones with bumpstops?
  7. Bump......... On the topic of strut replacement..... I'm ready to order a set of GR2 struts for my 01, I have gathered that it is wise to replace the strut mount and bearing as well. I have come across differing opinions on the boot. There are boots, boots with bump stops and people using no boot at all. If i don't buy the boot do I still need bumpstops? Are there advantages to any particular combination? Are there any parts I haven't mentioned that I also need to replace in the process?
  8. I see a lot more of those on the QX4. Be sure to look around for the infinity parts as well.
  9. My mother in law lives down a 10 mile dirt road through BLM land in northern Nevada. There is an endless supply of dirt roads through the mountains and valleys. I love to go out and wander while we are there. Lots of very sharp rocks/gravel about. I'm just worried what the teflons would look like after a summer of bombing those straighaways at 65 mph.
  10. My first reaction is to think this makes no sense. They designed it for their off road wheels not the street blingers. Aren't those the wheels that will see the most abrasive debris? I like the look of some of those matte black wheels. But I don't want to be rolling around on four abused omelette pans with rusty, flakey scouring all over.
  11. A lot of oem stuff is mounted with 3m double sided tape now. They have a few different automotive applications. I think if you buy 3m you'll withstand most conditions. 3m automotive oem sticky stuff
  12. hmmmmm ... just looked at it again. For those of you with a post 1999 rig, it doesn't list our pathys specifically, but the 29091 part number is the same I have seen on other sites for the 99.5 to 200? R50. I believe there may be an issue with the fitment into the stock wheel...... gonna have to look into this.
  13. they are right here .. http://www.accessconnect.com/warnprehubs.htm .. never used this seller before .. reputation unknown. Just came from a google search.
  14. 107k on my street wagon, time for some much needed maintenance. My list is gettin pretty long, so I figured what the hell lets make it longer, and start prepping it for more capable off road use. I would like to swap to the Warn hubs while its out of service. Cheapest I have seen them is $125 with free shipping. Is that the best I can get?
  15. I have never had a vehicle where I could do this. But I have on many occasions found myself completely blinded by headlight bounce back in heavy snow....... this mod is not "lame" if you need to drive but can't see the road with the headlights on. Definitely on the honey-do list.
  16. I do believe the stock nissan equipment can handle far more than the average amount of abuse they see. But for us R50 owners I think the functional, economic, flexibility, and durability issues far outweigh any drawbacks for the Warn Hubs.
  17. Does this kit use the same shocks and struts as stock. Or would we need longer ones? I am very interested in the kit... but I need front struts yesterday.
  18. Check the Technical and Consumer Information of your owners manual if you still have it. My 2001 has it listed in section 10, in a section for wheels and tires. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh....... i see.... you have no pathfinder owners manual...... who let him in????????? just kidding. My 01 LE came stock with 7 inch wide rims and 20mm offset. MY manual lists the SE model with same specs, but the XE is 7 in wide with 50 mm offset.
  19. Not designed for that? You realize that Drift and I have R50s right? How is driving at speed stock with CVs spinning different from driving at speed with Warn hubs locked and CVs spinning? Am I missing something?
  20. I have been watching this thread fervently kinda dissapointing conclusion. Good thing you posted this.... or it would have been really pissing me off. I think I'll do that. Thanks!
  21. As far as shift on the fly....... you can still have it if you want it. Just leave the hubs locked. Same as stock. But if you have no forseeable need for 4x4 for daily driving and what not, unlockem and save the wear and tear. There is a small ongoing argument about this. It really depends on your needs. If I need 4x4, I usually know ahead of time so i can lock em before I turn the key, from engine start in the garage to offroad you would be shift on the fly. If you are like some of the young impetuous types here who want impulse response, you may get annoyed when you see a mud hole on a rainy day and decide to harvest it..... then realize you have to spend 10 seconds in the rain to lock the hubs first. IMO a little rain never hurt anybody, and I pay too much every month for this vehicle to not do a simple mod to prolong mechanical reliability. Also, I would like to lift it this year and it then makes even more practical sense. I say go for it, and tell me if you find a lower price.
  22. Hey Drift, welcome bud. I see you are jumping right in with the mods. Cheers. I am looking to switching to the warn hubs too. I saw them online today at $125 with free shipping. Not sure if its a reputable vendor, but its the cheapest price I've found yet....... and no bidding. If someone else knows where to get them cheaper please chime in, I'll be buying these this month as well. I think Pezzy's bumper/tire mount post mentioned a new set of warns ....... how much did you pay Pezzy?
  23. I think you are going to need to define a few things to get that question answered. what is it doing wrong?..... or not doing right? what sort of change do you want to make? give some info and im sure you will get some helpful responses.
