  1. Hi guys! Let me share a little bit of my experience with the R50. Familiarity with this model I had 3 years ago, then it was a Nissan Terrano (VG33). After a short drive I decided to modify it, install hubs, SFD 5", steel protection 5 mm, wheel 33*12,5*15 ET -25. What happened in the end. I drove it for 2.5 years and sold it and took a Nissan Pathfinder (VQ35). Having left winter and with approach of heat I undertook completion of the car. Was installed SMD 6", custom rear springs, 52 cm wheel 32*11,5*15 ET -28 steel protection 5 mm converted front shocks to portable, to install cartridges.

  2. Nice work. Im interested in your front shocks. What do you mean "portable"? Do they have increased travel or just better performance?

  3. I figured I should leave a trail to my current vehicle for anybody who's interested, here's the link to the build thread for my 4Runner: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/258887-mjotrainbrains-build-thread.html It needs to be caught up as I've done the timing belt and some other stuff since the last update, and once I get a little rust sorted out it'll be time for the actually interesting stuff. If you want more of a day-to-day update you can of course check out my Instagram @mjotrainbrain and if you prefer a video format you can check out my YouTube channel mjotrainbrain616, but no promises of regular posting there.

  4. Dude I am OBSESSED with 4runners, I probably know more about them than 99% of 4runner owners. Tacoma's too. I'd love a mint 3rd gen with a manual, my dad had one until it was wrecked, but they are just tooooo rare and expensive to justify for me. Speaking of pics, where can we see your 03 v8??

  5. I took a picture of the used ATF I've got, with the flash on, and it's got that same chocolate milk look as yours when the light hits it at the right angle. (It looks more like used motor oil when the flash is off.) My trans wasn't acting up or flooded when I flushed it, either, I just figured the fluid had been in there since it left Kyushu and was probably due for replacement. So, good news, you didn't drown your transmission on dry land. I thought I'd posted this before but it looks like I didn't. Bent flexplate meant the torque converter wasn't seated right, which in that case caused torque converter clutch issues and codes.

  6. Well unfortunately the truck I got my trans from got squeezed so no hope of getting that control module. I'm considering taking the internal electronics, solenoids, and valve body from my old trans and stick them in the new trans, but I gotta take a look at the guts of the old one and make sure that's possible. Pics later tonight hopefully, the file size limit on direct posting is ridiculous and linking photos always seems more complicated than launching a Saturn V rocket to me.

  7. Good point - I should stop being lazy and go visit a junkyard. Actually, I will be in San Diego sometime in the next few weeks...I'll reach out if so. Thank you for the advice, and generous offer!

  8. My buddies 93 was doing the same thing and I thought it was the lock timer as well. We pulled it, swapped mine in, and it still did it. It ended up being a plastic tab on the rod that runs from the lock cylinder to the latch itself. Snagged a JY one (though I would get one from a dealer if thats the problem, I just happened to have one) put it in and now it works perfect. I've also seen a lock cylinder itself half cracked that made one kind of act the same way.
