Broke_as_a_joke Posted May 20, 2014 Share Posted May 20, 2014 Just picked up a 89 for $860 in mint condition im talking only 1 crack on the dashboard mint! lol got it to start as a trail project/DD since im also building a 1UZ AE86 (Lexus quad cam v8 into a rwd toyota corolla ) gas mpg isnt really the main objective lol. anyways the truck is 5 speed i got it to 280k original miles running castrol high mileage 10-30, seems to like it so far. schrocketeer Posted June 9, 2014 Share Posted June 9, 2014 My '87 has 332k miles on the 2.4L, z24i. My sons and I put a new head on it around 2400 miles ago. The previous owner said he had the tranny rebuilt at 150k miles. In my last couple of months of work commuting (lotsa highway miles), I am averaging 19mpg. deerhurst Posted September 6, 2015 Share Posted September 6, 2015 235/75/15 BF AT KO tires on steel wheels and long tubes on the motor in my 86.5 hardbody. Just rolled 146k miles. City kills my economy. Get about 17-18 in the city. Get about 25mpg on the highway. Also have 4.11 gears.
