Rear tail lights

I recently ripped out the headunit (aftermarket) that was in my pathfinder (1987), and redo the system. I almost have the system running well now (need to install wires and new speakers in stock locations). But since I did this, I've lost my interior dash lights, and the rear tail lights. Headlights still work with the switch, but tail lights don't come on. Signals, brakes, hazards all work properly, reverse hasn't worked since I got the truck (still have to troubleshoot that).

When I was removing the old harness, I clipped out the stock wiring harnesses. The PO had left them in there, with a couple of the wires connected. I know that in some chevrolet vehicles that if you don't use a wiring harness adapter that the dashlights will go out (and i suspect that the dash lights run through the stock harness here), but does anyone know if the tail lights run through the stock wiring harness as well?

Cheers,

Evan.

checked the fuse labelled for that at work today, and it wasn't blown. I'll have to check the rest of them tomorrow to make sure the wiring isn't wonky, but I'm sure that this isn't a problem. The battery was disconnected when I did the new install, but not the old removal. Never had a problem with cutting harnesses before. I'll check again though.

Any more thoughts if it turns out to not be a fuse?

And if I didn't put the stock dimmer wire into the harness for the new deck, then I'm assuming that they wouldn't work. P... Thanks, now I just have to find out which wire it is and hook it up.

Cheers,

Evan.

Update:

In my wiring harness (87 pathy), there are some pink wires with blue stripes and brown dots on them that require a constant power source. This restored my door chimes, and rear tail lights, but not my interior lights and killed my clock. I did a rush job on it as I had to drive it at night, but I will experiment more to get it all working later.
