trundle
I have recently started to hear an od squealing, almost a troaty hissing coming from the front of my 98 Pathfinder SE with 80,000 miles on it. I thought it could be brake related, at first, stepping on the brakes would make it stop. I pulled a twig out of my brakes yesterday, but that did not solve the problem, unlesss there is anything else stuck in there. Squeling does not increase in volume with speed or anything like that. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything lie this and what the outcome/solution was. Thanks in advance. -Tim
vengeful
If touching the brakes makes any change in the noise, it's brake related. It's possible your brakes are worn out and in need of replacement.
dagwoodzz
I think I've got similar symtoms. However breaking does nothing to stop the noise. The wheel bearings have never seen grease in the 18k that I've owned her. Isn't there a how to on this board for that? How often should this be done? vengeful
Wheel bearings *should* be repacked any time you drive through deep water, or deep mud. In reality, every couple of times is fine. http://sadik.net/nissan/howto/rotor.htm - This covers brake rotor replacement as well as wheel bearing replacement/repacking on a 92 Pathfinder.
