Trans oil level too much

I was checking my fluid levels today.

And found my trans fluid way,way too much. I know I never added fluid. I have only 30k on it.

I had it at the dealer for warranty due to a small oil leak from the engine.

 

Can someone please let me know on how much damage it could cause due to being too much?

I never noticed much in shifting, except like it lost power at a quick start.

how much over the high mark was it?

I removed at least a quart to 1 1/2 quarts.

It was way past the Hot reading by 2 inches.

It should be fine...the tranny will only pump so much fluid. The entire thing's not under pressure full-time. If it has way too much it could possibly leak somewhere.

Did you check it while the car was running or while the car was cold and off?

I tried both .

The dip stick has two sides on it. For hot and cold.

PF LE - check it while the car is running and warmed up a bit. This should give you the correct reading. It should read between the Warm and Cold but I could be wrong since I have a MT and not really sure how the auto is set up.

That's right, it should be warmed up and running when you check it.

In either case Warm or cold (sitting over night). And reading the stick it was still 2 inches above the marks.

I am glad to hear that no damage could of happened.

With it being over filled, could it of given me the sluggish shifting I was getting?
