Fresh Fluids

I need to change both my tranny fluid (looks a bit dirty) and coolant (based on mileage). I can't really afford to change both right now. Can anyone tell me which is more important, and how much I should expect to pay. I want to stay away from the dealership. Any suggestions on fluid brands?

Coolant, cause it keeps the engine cool and the block from corroding internally.

lol. tranny fluid, as it is rather expensive to replace a tranny.

 

you should do them both. it's not that expensive unless you hire a mechanic. oil is (i am guessing AT here) around $2 a quart and coolant under $10. total shouldn't really be more then $20 plus whatever the tranny filter may be.

How often should those fluids be replace.. Coolant, Tranny, Brake, Power Steering?

I just had my tranny fluid drained and refilled, but someone on here said that only 60% is actually drained, the other 40% is still in the engine.

 

gosh, hope that TRANSMISSION fluid is not in the ENGINE.

 

but, yes, quite a bit of ATF stays in the torque converter.
