Just purchase 1999.5 3.3 4x4 stock after my mint 1998 (sarge) was totaled .... :o

 

Looking for some ideas on following:

 

1) I'd like to retrofit fog lamps (there are none) into the oem placement on the front bumper

 

Here are my questions

 

- are there kits that have the hardware & wiring & on/off switch for oem retrofit

- does a kit come with a replacement steering column assembly for the traditional on/off

- even though there are no fog lights in the factory trim package, could the wiring be sitting there for me to plug into??

 

For any of you who have tackled this update - any info on where to find parts & directions on how to install are much appreciated.

 

Maybe all this is a junkyard acquisition??

 

2) Suggestion for rear shocks .... minimal off-road & no towing with this vehicle

I dont know too much about the fogs - I as looking into doing the same when I had the stock bumper... check ebay - I've seen quite a few sets up there for sale... My dealer seemed to think it wouldnt be too hard to install, and set it up just like stock, however, I never followed through -- so I dont know for sure....

There is no "kit" per se, but I'm sure you can assemble all the necessary parts through eBay and http://www.nissanparts.cc (online Dealership offering discounted prices!).

 

As far as installation goes, it would probably be similar to setting up an aftermarket fog light setup, with the relays, wiring, and switches, except for the stalk mounted switch vs. the dash mounted switch.

 

As far as shocks go, since you'll be doing very little off-road, and no towing, there is no need for a heavy-duty shock like the Rancho 9000s or the Old Man Emus. I suggest the Rancho 5000, or even OEM shocks. The KYB Gas-a-just shocks are very good as well, and offer adjustability (not quite to the degree of the Rancho 9000s), but you can still adapt for various loadings in your truck.

These guys hit the nail on the head. I just saw some factory pathy foglight, cruise, and power-a/t switches on ebay last night, but dont know about a 99....they are easy to install....cordless drill, zip ties etc. Oh and you can get fog light wiring kits at autozone type part stores also. As a matter of fact Wal-mart has the wiring kit...and they are all basically same for low watt factory type lights.
