mickyficky
I ran out of F'N gas this morning I normally just use my trip odometer as a gauge because the light seems kinda unreliable. The problem with the odometer is trying to gauge it when you have a heavy foot. Anyway, I normally need gas at about 325-345 miles. This morning I died at 319 (guess i was lead footin it this week ) with NO gas light at all, WTF. Who else has this prblem? Is there a quick fix on the gas light? Guess its not really a big deal, I'll just get gas at 300..... PS. to the makers of those crappy little gas station bought red gas cans - F-U - learn how to make a product that works. everytime i've ever used on of those POS things it spills gas everywhere....
88pathoffroad
Why don't you just fix your gas gauge instead? Replacing the voltage regulator is a fairly simple job. Let me know if you need a new one, I make them for $10 shipped. Direct swap. Comes with instructions.
mickyficky
The gas gauge works, its just not very accurate. Would the voltage regulator make it more accurate or would it just fix a broken gauge? Thanks 88.
iLLlegal
my light doesnt come on either! i ran out of gas in the summer. luckly close enough to home to just coast. could it be a burnt out light?
88pathoffroad
Ah, sounds like either your wiring's taken a bad turn or the sending unit inside the tank is heading south. Check the wiring on top of the tank first...that's easier than taking the SU out. The voltage regulator controls both the fuel and temp gauges, common problem if neither gauge works.
