4WD Low Question

Sup fellows, I thought of a question you might be able to help me out with. I read on my sun vizor that while in 4WD low, you should not exceed 30 MPH. I was using my 4WD low yesterday while snowboarding and it got me thinking, why can you only do 30 MPH? Thanks for any help guys!

If you have a tach, take a look at how high it's running when you are doing 30mph in 4Lo Do you really want to push the engine to any higher RPM?

 

That and the 4WD Low was meant to give low speed crawling power, it was never designed to be driven at high speed. That's what 4Hi is for (but not too high of speed) If you force it (4Lo) at higher speeds your going to break something

yup, like red said...4LO is meant for things like crawling, pulling others out of a ditch, etc. its geared VERY low and creates alot of torque.

 

use your 4 hi to keep traction in the snow, light mud, etc.

 

and yeah, put your truck in 4 hi...watch the RPM's along with the speed. then stick it down in 4 lo, and watch teh same things. your turning alot of RPM's for only a bit of speed. going too fast in 4 lo (or even 4 hi) will cause major issues within your transfer case
