Read Door Latch

My rear door latch seems to be broken. Is this a common problem? Is there somekind of safety switch im not familiar with?

when I try to lift the latch, noting happens. Last week i could open the rear door, now I get nothing when I lift the latch.

 

Im guessing its either something internal. Maybe the links inside have come apart? I dunno. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

i don't recall. search these forums for accessing the rear pannel. it was discussed not long ago but it is probably gonna be a PITA do get in when it's closed.

 

try turning the key the other way.
