Keeping cool

Lots of you guys have thorleys and other make headers. The original pipe set has lots of heat shields to keep electrics from burning off and other things from overheating. How do you keep the heat in on the headers or are all of the rusting broken heat shields on my Pathy a waste of aluminum?

Ceramic coating or they sell a type of fiber insulating tape. They use the tape for racing usualy, so things keep cooler under the hood and so they don't burn themselves on the headers as they're working under the hood.

I got the ceramic coated headers. You can also get them coated with something called Jet Hot I think. Thorley will void the warranty if you use any type of wrap or tape on the headers.

The heat shields are mostly to keep the floor of the body cool and keep the carpet and insulation from burning. There's even a heat sensor under the driver's seat, just in case the cat overheaats. Just leave the stock heat shields on the body and it'll be fine.
