Timing Belt 93 SE

Hey guy's,

 

My timing belt may have gone today on my 93 SE, I would like to know if my valves are going to be okay ??

 

Worst timing (no pun intended) I was supposed to fish in a derby this weekend!!! :furious:

theres a good chance you bent some valves. how many times did yo try an restart it? did it run for a second or 2 or 3 after it went? theres a few things that could lead to all valves being bent or just a couple. But most likely some are bent... rip her apart and take a look i guess.. im sure somebody here has more info on what to do, but thats my 2 cents. and sorry to hear. :sniff:

If your timing went when you were going down the highway, or if you drive a standard shift, the momentum of your truck would have kept turning the motor and unfortunately you probably bent some valves. Take it apart and see if it truly is your belt that let go.

 

How many miles since your last belt change?

Well, I'm not to sure when the belt was last changed. I bought the pathy a few years ago, so I have no idea. I did however inspect the belt a few months ago when I changed my thermostat, I pulled the cover off and had a goog look at the belt, It seemed fine, in goog shape.

When it died on the hwy. I did try to restart, it would crank, but not turn over.

I have yet to hear back from the garage, but my fingers are crossed. The last thing I need right now is an expensive repair.

Is there a chance that it could be something minor?? ( sensor )

if you didn't hear any horrid banging from the engine when it died maybe it was something else.. dunno.. it could be almost anything

Hey Guys,

 

Just got word from the garage, turns out that it was my timing belt. They say that they won't be able to tell if any valves bent until they replace the belt and start the engine.
