Knock Sensor replacement

There are alot of bright inventive people on this forum. Anyone ever change a knock sensor without pulling the intake manifold???? :help:

i dont think thats possible. Its pretty much right dead center directly underneath that thing. So, im thinking theres only one way to do it.

to change it no, there's no other way. When I put my new motor in, it didn't have the mounting hole for it, so I just drilled a hole into the bell housing, engine side, and made sure the bolt didn't hit the flywheel. Close enough to do it's job, yet it's now accesible.

Yeah, its a PITA. After looking into it, I gave up and found a local shop that did it for like $500. Considering almost $200 for the part and various BS, plus no shop, the need for wheels to get to work, etc. it was worth the difference to me to have it done in a day. But back to the point, yeah, you have to remove the intake. Not a cool design.

I got the point and pulled the intake. I moved the sensor to the position suggested by MaritimeMan. Now I can reach it. :gossip:

cool, I hope that works out for you as well as it did for me. Shouldn't have any problems at all. All it does is pick the vibration of a knocking motor and tells the computer to retard the fuel a bit.
