My '99 Pathfinder needs a steering pump, is Frontier 2005-2012 compatible?

Recommended Posts

I know that, on paper, this idea sounds like complete nonsense. Like, why would a 2010 vehicle's steering pump fit one from 1999?

Well, the pumps look very alike, almost like it was a common design used by Nissan for a long time, just changing the part number.

Could this mean that the frontier steering pump is compatible? I know it doesn't make sense but the frontier one is 150usd while the R50 one is 300usd (here in Argentina), that's half the price for what could be the same crappy chinese pump! And economy isn't very good here, so any way of saving money is appreciated and used.

Thanks everyone! Hope to hear suggestions from you!

They do look quite similar. Part numbers are similar, too. The '99 pump is 49110-0W000, '05 Fronty is either 49110-EA000 or 49110-EA200, depending on engine option. Should be different flavors of the same part. I don't know that they have the same pressure relief valves or fittings, but you may be able to swap bits over from your old pump to make the new one work if it's not completely roached.
