01 Tranny in 04 Pathfinder?

Hi all,

My 04 Pathfinder transmission lost its reverse and grinds when accelerating at times, so I'm assuming its going out...

Planning to replace it myself and my neighbor knows a guy with a couple 01 pathfinders with good trannies. Wondering if an 01 tranny would fit in an 04 pathfinder. My 04 is 4wd and not sure if his 01s are 4 or 2wd. If those trannies bolt up and he has 2wd pathys, would that still work in my 04 4wd?

You should be able to make it work if they are both the same motor. For 2wd and 4wd you will have to swap the tail housing of your transmission onto the donor so the transfer case will bolt up
