02 R50 Dilemma

I have a 2002 R50 automatic with 150,000 miles that was damaged in the front end but running well, though driven sporadically.  Now it’s throwing a high intake temp sensor code all of the sudden.  New MAF didn’t fix it.  Won’t idle on its own.  Thoughts?

Wouldn’t a new intake temp sensor fix that? Bench test the other if possible. Check all the wires connections?

I guess I thought the intake temp sensor was integrated in MAF sensor.  Hope they’ll allow returns.

Is the intake temp sensor on rear of the throttle body?

My intake temp sensor shows all sorts of false readings. I get 300degF spikes often with no real noticeable effect. I’ve replaced my IAT sensor already though and checked the wiring extensively and the problem persists. I think I submerged my ECU in muddy water and that’s what my issue is..

Anyway, I just wonder how much effect the IAT actually has on the ECUs tuning. Can you just unplug it and see how it runs?

No IAT.  It’s gone.  I guess it has been.  Apparently something else is problem.  Runs fine cold, then it won’t idle after it gets a little warm.

theres a lot od problems with aftermarket mafs on r50 pathys. an 01 maxima maf can be used instead and is much cheaper than a new oem pathy one

Yeah.  It was a purchase made while trying to sort it out quickly.  I’m surprised that it had the same problem as the original though.  I am likely going to sell the R50 and it doesn’t make sense to spend a lot of money.
