Guest tgirouard
My A/C compressor is squeeling like a mother. Is there bearings in there that are ready to explode? The A/C works great. Will i have to change the compressor? Should i run it till it goes or will it sieze up on me and break the belt? Worst noist my truck has ever made. 88pathoffroad
I'd unhook it if you want to salvage it. Let it go and it'll become a REAL expensive problem later if you want to keep your AC.
revgolem
Most likely the clutch is going/has gone out. If you are LUCKY all you have to replace is the compressor, expansion valve and dryer/receiver. the more you run the A/C as is, the more you have to replace... and it's very likely some of the components won't show damage for some time, causuing you to have to re-replace most of them when they do. A tiny peice of something smaller than a grain of sand can completely ruin an entire A/C system. and chances are you are throwing shreds of compressor metal all throughout the lines.
