Hey there everyone i was wondering if anyone knew of the best way to put an effective 6-10" lift on a 1996 nissan pathfinder. i am already getting ready to completely rebuild the transmission and transfer case with upgraded gears and the like. but before i do that i would like to stick a lift kit on it ..anyone got any ideas?

Although some have custom fabbed a large subframe drop, really your only option to get to the 6" mark with somewhat readily available kits is to combine a 4" sfd with 2" front springs. I believe with that combo and a little trimming, some are running 35's. The main limiting factor is the front suspension (struts) on the R50. Could always go full bore and SAS that thing, but you'd probably need good fab skills or know someone who does.

I recommend a 4" lift via a subframe drop kit. Then get 33" tires. The tires effectively lift you 2 more inches over stock for 6".

Adding more than that begins accumulating trade-offs that you may not want.

And that is plenty to make a very capable back country rig.
