Porkwagon
I just purchased a 92 pathfinder XE 4wd. Really like it so far, but it has some speaker pods in the back and im not sure what the deal is. I took the covers off and can feel them moving, but they are very very low. Someone told me these things have an amp stock, is that a known failing point? Is it an absolute nightmare to get around? Thanks guys.
xterra
The rear-speaker amp is mounted behind the radio and lower trim panel. It has a 7.5amp fuse that you should check first. If it's shot, it can be bypassed. Lots more information in this thread: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/35837-how-to-bypass-the-factory-amps-step-by-step/

Steve_RI
Get rid of the boxes and find a donor 93-95 and pull the rear headliner and the speaker mount. Those ridiculous boxes take up way too much room in an already meager cargo area.
