Driving down the road, everything was fine then climbing slight hill it 'popped out' of gear. Won't engage in any gear at all. Fluid is good, bit dirty but good. Whinning noise coming from underneath

 

Any ideas?

Dirty how? Small burned and glittery? Or just brown and smell fine? If the former your trans is most definitely toast.

 

Is the transfer case making the noise? May have broke the chain and it's free wheeling.
