In reading Nissan 3 tranny question some of you mentioned the tranny cooler going bad . I got the my Pathfinder from my sister and she had the tranny rebuilt at 75000 . its a 90 and now has 98000 How can i tell if the cooler on it will be ok and would it be difficult to replace it

thanks

if the tranny was rebuilt the aftermarket cooler might have been installed then... look around... the stock cooler is part of the radiator and it sucks and definately need the aftermarket one...

search around this forum (garage parhaps) there is plenty on this topic that should answer all your questions...

good luck

I agree that the stock tranny cooler needs to have an aftermarket cooler added. However if you live in cold climate leaving the stock cooler in place can have a benefit. It will warm the tranny fluid faster an allow for smoother shifts while the truck is cold.

One way to avoid this is synthetic tranny fluid.

If you live in an area that seldom goes below 10 F then I agree bypass the stock cooler completely.
