jj big shoe
Do you know anyone in the states you trust enough to give $400nz to? The NZ Customs site says motorcycle parts are duty free. Wire the $$ to a mate in the US and have him buy the Powertrax locker and repackage it in a motorcycle clutch box. Even if the Customs officers open it, the locker looks enough like a clutch to get by easily. A little shady, but you'll save yourself about 100 kiwis or roos or whatever you guys call money over there.
jumper
i got this back from customs Thank you for your enquiry. It is my view that a diff locker is free of duty.Even though the Tariff states 10% there is a concession granted by the Ministry of Econonmic Development that makes certain parts of motor vehicles free of duty. Therefore GST of 12.5% is applied to the cost of the goods, insurance and freight. All figures to be converted into $NZ. The minimum duty/GST total payable NZ Customs collects is $NZ50. Michael Trbuhovich for Comptroller of Customs $394.05nz plus 12.5% = $443.25nz :cool2:
