mcbooth
Hey everyone. So I have 2001 Nissan Pathfinder and I've noticed that it has a light ticking at idle and gets louder as I accelerate. Next day I get THE SES light. I get the infamous P1140 code. I've heard this being called the knock sensor also. Is this a valve that is bad, lifter? Could the sensor or solenoid throw the valve timing out of whack? Thank you all for your help!
ONCEBITN
im not familiar with the knock problem but here is a link to a relocation i guess to see if it fixes your problem http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/34574-knock-sensor-relocation/?hl=%2Bknock+%2Bsensor+%2Brelocation
Quaintbucket
That's not the knock sensor. That's something else completely different. I would change your oil and oil filter then clear the codes before you replace any parts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ferrariowner123
I second that. Check the actual oil level to see if it's okay, I've accidently done that, during an oil change and there was a small tick, cured it with a quart of oil that it needed, since it was a quart low. -Kyle
mcbooth
Well it was a little low and I added up to the high line. I let it run afterwards. It definitely got quieter but you can tell this isn't a normal tick. I'm going to pull the sensor and check it out to see if i can clean it a little.
