NIssanBoston
I just have a quick question for everybody about a decision I'm trying to make. its a decision between getting my whole exhaust assembly replaced from after the cat(pipe broke connected to it leading to the muffler) , this happened a while ago and I basically Mickey moused it and had a flex pipe welded on to temporarily fix it. The part about that is it kind of makes a flurrying sound kind of like bird wings and its really annoying at times and made me not really want to drive with my windows down. My mechanic quoted me $650 to replace the whole assembly leading after the cat. My other option that also interests me is getting a lift. Its about around the same price range. I've been wanting a lift for a while just have been deciding on a good lift to go with, i think I'm going to go with OME setup then 1" fleurys spacers up in front to level it out. If I replace my exhaust assembly I am probably going to have to wait at least another 5 months until I get to purchase my lift. What would be more beneficial and would help me out in the long run, and what would you do if you were in my position? All feedback is greatly appreciated. Beatup96
I replaced the exhaust on my '96 with one of these , for a whole lot less than $650.00.... http://www.1aauto.com/complete-cat-back-exhaust-system/i/1aemk00056?f=573068&y=1999&utm_campaign=gb_csv_br&utm_content=EMK&gclid=CJz58uvygcACFeRj7Aod-DUAYw It's a "cat back" for California standards , you'll see that for the "normal" models it does not come with the connecting pipes used in place of the extra cats on California vehicles . I was able to use my old pipes , if this is the pipe that broke on your truck they go for about $60.00 each IIRC . I'm satisfied with it , it's only been on for 10 months/6000 miles but it was a straight forward bolt on replacement and it was CHEAP . Sounds just like stock . NIssanBoston
Yeah it's one of the pipes that is included in this http://www.1aauto.com/complete-cat-back-exhaust-system/i/1aemk00070?f=573542&y=1999 i'm pretty sure, maybe i'll go to my mechanic or look under my truck to see what exact pipes fit etc. I mean it's fixed i just don't like the noise it bothers me, my mechanic said i'd eventually have to replace the other pipe because that will break aswell. gv280z
Well, it's not sexy fun like a lift but I'd have to go with exhaust. I'd put a 2 1/4" high flow cat and Thrush Mad Hot in there, really high flow with hardly any sound. That would improve the driveability of your truck and you would enjoy it again, even without the lift. Anyway, we've got it made, our lifts are dirt cheap. NIssanBoston
Do you by chance have a link to where you purchased 2 1/4' cat? Yeah i like the good old truck sound .
gv280z
I haven't bought one, though I'd like to. What I told you is just my general plan for what I'd like to do to my truck, I wish I had a new exhaust, mine is hanging loose and completely rusted and groaty.. Here, look at this: https://supercoupeperformance.com/partBrowser.aspx?partId=158 I had to go universal because it seems kinda hard to find stuff for that year model pathfinder and also, if you use the year make and model, then you don't get a choice of in/out diameter, so this way you can throw a universal cat in there that has a little larger diameter and will flow a lot more exhaust. I would just really want to avoid a highway drone...that's why I liked how the Thrush Mad hot sounded, here: http://m.thrushexhaust.com/mufflers/thrush-mad-hot-muffler that, right there just does it for me man...I likey..
