So I am halfway with my little " tune up" and after last weeks little Incedent I decided to be proactive... Change the timing belt. To my surprise it had been changed at least once in 200k miles but the tensioner was original... It was about to crater by the sound of the bearing. Anyways now to replace the 400 vacuum lines under the intake and also the valve cover gaskets... Yay me

Well, if it hadn't been changed in the 200k miles, your probably wouldn't have a top end.

I recommend that you change the belt, tensioner (obviously), cam seals, crank seal, bypass hose, T-stat and waterpump. (all can be had for about $350)

Button it up and your are set for the next 100k miles, that's the way I do it. ;)

FYI, the record that I know of is over 500k on a stock motor...

Yeah I changed it all ( bypass hose was a pita)... Everything I've put into that beast and it is still only retail about $800; but heck it's brand new practically and I can kick just about any jeeps behind that doesn't have thousands dumped into it
