knocking sounds

just over the last few days my Pathfinder has a clunking noise coming from the front end somwhere on the drivers side, i can almost feel it under my feet. It seems to do it when i leave a stop light and acellerate quick or when im stopping hard and the odd time going over a bump. Could the front differential crossmember bolts be loose making this sound? i read it somewhere on this site that it is a known problem. Thanks in advance

K i checked the front differential crossmember bolts and they seem to be nice and tight so what else could this be? would bad shocks do this?

I found the noise, it was the sway bar bushings and endlinks where completley shot. everytime i went over a bump the sway bar would bash up and down making the noise.

Good catch Bud !! I had just replaced the front sway bar bushings; they were sooo sloppy that the bolts had grooves worn in them from rubbing !!
