I have a 95 pathfinder and i filled it up and at 19 miles the gauge went down an 1/8. Around 180 miles it's between 1/4 and 1/2. I never changed the plugs and wires only thing i did was a fuel filter. I did notice my gauge is below normal temp leaning towards on the cold side. It does heat up going up hills like 3/4 but hasn't done that lately. I did replace the thermostat. Any ideas? Thanks

My rig seems to get more miles as the gauge goes down. The first 1/4 tank I will get 30 to 40 miles. Up to half tank it might get to 100 or more.

So check your mileage and don't rely completely on the gauge.

After you replaced the stat did you make sure the coolant level is proper? It could possibly be a little low. Make sure there are no leaks from any hose clamps. Did you put 50/50 mix in?

Mine does something of the same. When I fill up it only says a little over 3 quarters full. The float in the tank is old and has corrosion . I took it to a sand pit at half a tank and went Dukes of Hazzard for 20 min. to bounce the float around. Fixed it.
