mikestewart395
I have heard you lose some MPG's using a snorkel. True or no?
Bubbley11
MPG loss??? What? Maybe with a tiny point of drag but you shouldn't loss much, if any at all.
cvdloc
I could understand that someone didn't use big enough pipe and it could suffocate the motor? But that's far fetched..
3rdtimesacharm
Some say yes, some say no. I figure it comes down to snorkel design + driving conditions/speed. If MPG is more of a concern than hydrolock I think live without.
theexbrit
I've noticed a slight power increase when moving, it seems that the snork acts kinda like a ram air system & forces air into the TB. A poor mans turbo!
Karmann
Supposedly the air is cleaner, and they act as a ram-air so possibly a small increase in mileage from the extra air.
Nefarious
Totally depends on the snorkel design. Smooth transitions, adequate diameter piping, filter facing forward, then you could gain power/mpg. Tiny constrictive piping with odd shapes, bottlenecks and a top or rear facing inlet and you will see decreases in power/mpg.
