Clutch Pedal Slack, help

Day 4 of my new 88 Pathy, haha, new, and here is the next question.

My clutch pedal has a lot of play in it. About 5 inches before clutch engages. I noticed the carpet under the pedal was worn out so previous owner floored it for a long time I am guessing. Anyone care to share how to adjust it please? My sedan only needs a quarter travel to shift, I'd like the pathy the same as I am grinding a few gears and feeling silly when people on the street turn at the screaming gears, lol.

Step one would be to bleed the system. Top off the clutch master cylinder, bleed the slave cylinder (on the passenger side of the tranny), and then bleed the damper on the passenger firewall. I'm pretty sure that is the order stated...

Do not let the master cylinder suck air so keep that checking that reservoir!

Then see what you get.
