You can pick your line and paddle like hell (counter intuitive, but positive motion allows you clear obstacles) but then when the floatation device hits the the current diverter, good luck and hold on! I've swam a good distance trying to catch a 2 man kayak as well... I will say, swimming in white water will kick the crap out of you. It's like playing in surf without the break between waves!
