Aussie_Terrano
Hi everyone, I have a wd21 terrano and the has stopped working. I'm thinking its electrical because it used to work and then it stopped and started again and then stopped. Just wanna see if there is any common heater problems with the pathfinder. Thanks
devonianwalk
By heater "stopped and started again and then stopped", do you mean the blower motor? Also, do you have the manual or automatic climate control?
Aussie_Terrano
The fan/blower has continued to work just the "heat" has stopped and I'm pretty sure it's manual climate control
Leo94
Have you replaced the radiator or anything in the cooling system recently? Are the levels fine? If it hasn't been air bled properly you can get heating issues.
devonianwalk
Good point Leo. You could have a trapped air bubble in the heater core that is preventing the hot coolant from flowing through it. Have you heard any "sloshing" sounds on engine start up under the dash?
Aussie_Terrano
Nah I haven't heard any sloshing sounds. I flushed the coolant when I first got the car but it the heater was working since then.
Leo94
Doesn't hurt to check, does your car get to operating temperature fine?
Inyourface1650
Can you hear the damper door move when you go from hot to cold on the temperature dial? Mine is very audible. if that cable or connection has snapped the door will never open and no heat... thats right its getting colder on that side of the world isnt it.... Aussie_Terrano
No I can't hear the damper door move, where can I check to see if the cable is broken? And what is the proper way to bleed your radiator?
Vividkid
You should be able to feel the 'action' of the door and cable when you move it from hot to cold with the slider. If it feels to 'light' then you have a cable/door issue. If thats fine then you are either low on coolant or have a clogged heater core. Pull the hoses and flush it out either with water or try and blow it out with compressed air(not liable if you blow up your core). I was able to blow mine out after it sat for years. It had chunks of nasty built up in it.
Nooks
Vivid kid where do I find the hoses to be flushed if I have a blocked heater core???
Kingman
Left side of the engine, as your looking at it, on the firewall. Two 5/8" hoses on top of each other.
Harbinger
I hope you can get some help here. I just had to comment that it is nearly 43C on my side of the USA right now, it is good to know people still want to be warm else where!
Nooks
Thanks Kingman my car has auto climate control and blower works so I think the hose might be blocked
